Summary

The Mental Health Faculty is accountable to the Pre-Licensure Associate Dean and the Dean, School of Nursing (SON) and ensures the integrity, excellence, and ongoing curriculum support for the Psych/Mental Health course. The faculty member is responsible for assisting and supporting the Pre-Licensure program in: curriculum, schedule, courses, student, advising, meetings, events, service and scholarly aspects at the Weston campus. The faculty will represent the school at various events of nursing to guarantee its integrity.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist and support the Pre-Licensure Associate Dean with the Psych/Mental Health nursing course implementations of the curriculum and program initiatives.

  • Contribute to the leadership vision for the program by maintaining active professional involvement with pedagogical direction in nursing programs.

  • Participate in and support the Pre-Licensure Associate Dean and Dean with various Pre-Licensure nursing programs.

  • Participate in the analysis of outcome data and make medical/surgical nursing curricula revisions based on outcomes.

  • Participate in the Pre-Licensure nursing scheduling and course offerings.

  • Participate in the examination, delivery, and assessment of new efficient and effective course delivery methods for medical/surgical courses.

  • Collaborate on and promote interdisciplinary/interprofessional education curricula with faculty supporting the Pre-Licensure nursing courses.

  • Collaborate on and assist the nursing program directors and faculty in maintaining the quality and integrity of the Pre-Licensure nursing programs, which includes evaluation of students and course evaluations, curriculum workshops, and review of student integrity and/or progression issues. Participate in the Pre-Licensure Program Meetings, School of Nursing Meetings, any other appointed university or SON committee, and open houses. Consult with the Admissions, Retention and Progression Committee regarding specific policy and Office of Accessibility Services on student matters.

  • Assist in the compliance with standards and guidelines set by ACEN, NECHE, and other accreditation bodies related to health professions programs.

  • Assist the Pre-Licensure Associate Dean and program directors in activities related to faculty recruitment.

  • Assist with activities related to the mentoring program in collaboration with the program directors for newly hired nursing faculty.

  • Support faculty development in teaching, research, leadership, and other scholarly activities as well as in community service.

  • Ensure and support a conducive teamwork environment with SON faculty and staff.

  • Meet regularly with advisees to ensure student success throughout their program.

  • Attend professional meetings related to curriculum development and academic leadership and serve on local and national committees relative to health professional practice and education.

  • Participate in nursing research/public policy/nursing education/ nursing leadership scholarly endeavors.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Other responsibilities as designated by the Pre-Licensure Associate Dean and Dean, School of Nursing.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Registered Nurse in Massachusetts with a master's degree in nursing required.

  • Earned doctoral degree or currently enrolled in doctoral studies and three years of related experience preferred.

  • Ability to uphold the university's commitment to inclusive excellence in a diverse educational community.

  • Experience in writing grants, scholarly papers and/or other related scholarly activities.

  • Commitment to community and professional service.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

  • Normal office environment, not subject to extremes in temperature, noise, odors, etc.

  • May spend extended periods at terminal, on telephone, or operating other office machines, requiring eye-hand coordination and finger dexterity.

  • Frequent interruptions to assist staff and faculty.
