Job Description:

Salve Regina University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor of Cultural and Historic Preservation starting September 2020. The successful applicant will teach in the Noreen Stonor Drexel cultural and historic preservation program, one of eight undergraduate programs recognized by the National Council for Preservation Education.

Candidates should have expertise in teaching and practicing anthropological archaeology within a broad framework of historic preservation (e.g. public archaeology, cultural resource management). Candidates who emphasize hands-on, experiential teaching and who employ current technologies (e.g., photogrammetry, Geographic Information Systems, and archaeological geophysics) in their preservation practice are strongly encouraged to apply. While the geographic area and time period of a candidate's research and practice is open, they should be able to take advantage of the local area's rich archaeological heritage. They should also be committed to local community engagement through partnerships with local preservation and cultural institutions.

The successful candidate will work with the program's architectural historian to develop and teach courses covering archaeological method and theory, laboratory applications, introduction to Graphic Information Systems, and special topics. The successful candidate will also teach anthropology courses and to collaborate with colleagues in the Cultural, Environmental, and Global Studies Department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Teaching and Advising

This position requires a teaching load of seven courses per academic year, which will include both anthropology and historic preservation topics. Along with the coordinator of the program the successful candidate will also be responsible to academic advising and internship coordination.

Research

The successful candidate is expected to maintain a record of significant scholarship within their field. This position also requires collaborative research with undergraduate students through fieldwork and laboratory analysis.

Requirements:

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Anthropology along with historic preservation related experience (e.g. public archaeology or cultural resource management). Candidates should also have a demonstrated record of teaching, research, and publication, as well as a desire to conceptualize and teach courses that will prepare undergraduate students for entry into the preservation field or for admission to graduate school. The successful candidate will also have extensive experience in advising students and a record of placing students in graduate programs.

Job Description: BASIC FUNCTION: Full-Time Lecturer in Nursing Faculty develops, implements, and evaluates the nursing program on an ongoing basis. This position participates in advising students, curriculum development, program revisions, program evaluations, textbook selection, teaching in the classroom and clinical setting, evaluation of student achievement, and other matters as assigned in accordance with the mission, core values, and purposes of the university. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Personnel: * Participates in interviewing and makes recommendations for hiring of Adjunct Faculty. * Arranges for coverage of classes during own absences and emergency leaves. * Promotes rapport within the department, campus, and community. * Posts and keeps a minimum of five office hours per week that are convenient to students who seek assistance with counseling, academic advising, and coursework. * Maintains punctuality in meeting assigned classes and clinical. * Functions as a Lead Faculty for assigned courses. Plans, monitors, and evaluates the instruction provided by Adjunct Faculty assisting with any aspect of the course. * Models professional behavior and standards of practice while in the workplace. Budget: * Makes recommendations regarding equipment, software purchases, and equipment maintenance contracts. * Participates in budget planning process. Administration: * Attends and participates in faculty meetings. * Participates in accreditation reviews and reports. * Participates in developing programs, evaluating and revising student policies, organizational framework and revising curricular offerings. * Participates in publicizing and disseminating information about the program. * Participates in recruitment, orientation, and coordination of Adjunct Faculty. * Participates in the orientation and advisement of students.
