The Charleston School of Law offers a comprehensive Academic and Bar Success Program that starts with Orientation and follows students through their bar licensure. We are excited to add an Assistant (entry-level) or Associate (experienced) Director for Academic and Bar Success to our team.

The Law School seeks applications from candidates who are passionate about teaching academic and bar success courses, working with students outside of the classroom, and staying informed on NextGen Bar Exam developments. The candidate will collaborate with a team to promote the school's mission of excellent teaching, community service, diversity, and inclusion to ensure the success of Charleston School of Law students.

This is a full-time, 12-month administrative teaching position reporting to the Assistant Dean for Academic and Bar Success.

The candidate hired will actively participate in enhancing the effectiveness of the Office of Academic and Bar Success.

This includes involvement in all stages of law students' journeys from Orientation to becoming a licensed attorney. The candidate will teach a variety of courses including sessions during Orientation (some foundational skills to kick off their law school journey); a 1L class (similar to a structured study group to help select students in their second semester); a 2L class (this course primarily uses the MPT portion of the bar exam to further enhance students' critical thinking, analytical skills, and writing abilities); and a 3L class (a bar prep course taken in their last semester); assist in the design and execution of workshops throughout the school year; engage in 1-on-1 support for students at-risk or on probation; and serve as a bar study coach during the graduates' full-time bar study journey.

The candidate hired should be familiar with the skills needed for law students to succeed, demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills, possess excellent computer skills, knowledge of the Uniform Bar Exam, and be licensed to practice law in at least one jurisdiction.

Applicants should submit a cover letter explaining interest in the position, relevant and transferable experience, and commitment to the Law School's mission; a resume or curriculum vitae, and any teaching evaluations (if applicable) to csolhr@charlestonlaw.edu. Review of applications will occur immediately; for full consideration, applicants should apply by July 15, 2024. We hope to have the selected candidate start by August 1, in time to begin work with the newest students in the Fall.
