Job Summary:
This position is a full-time 9-month non-tenure track position beginning in the Fall 2024 semester. This position will start at the Assistant or Associate level depending on the candidate's qualifications.
The Assistant/Associate Professor of Agribusiness requires:
Minimum of a Master's degree in agribusiness, business, management, economics, or a closely related field.
Three to five or more years of agriculture experience.
Previous teaching experience is strongly preferred.
Candidates will be required to teach courses relating to farming practices and agriculture production, specifically in management, economic principles, policy, marketing, finance, globalization, and current issues. Candidates should submit a letter application that includes teaching interest, a curriculum vitae, a statement of teaching philosophy, and the names and contact information of three professional references.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Teach business courses relating to farming practices and agriculture production and services specifically in management, economic principles, policy, marketing, finance, globalization, and current issues.
Teach at least 12 contact hours (4 classes per semester) of undergraduate agribusiness classes.
Ability to teach at the graduate level based on experience and need.
Plan and execute all tasks involved with teaching a college-level class such as developing a syllabus and course content, activities, and assessments; use Blackboard as a course management tool
Be the champion and primary student advisor for Agribusiness
Assist with recruiting to Agribusiness
Provide academic and career advice to Agribusiness undergraduate and graduate Agribusiness students
Develop a network and regularly communicate with professionals in Agribusiness.
Assist in updating curricula
Involvement in student activities outside the classroom in regards to agribusiness.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Broad knowledge of agribusiness including agricultural economics, agricultural marketing, farm management, agricultural markets and prices, globalization of agricultural technology, agriculture and food policy, management of agricultural technology, and current issues in agriculture and food.
Teaching skills.
Education and Experience:
Candidates must have a M.S degree or higher in agribusiness, business, management, economics, or a related field
Experience teaching at the college-level is preferred along with experience planning content and activities for course lectures and labs as well as curriculum development and use of classroom management software.
