Scheduled Hours 40 Position Summary The Assistant Facilities Zone Manager will provide support to the Zone Managers in overseeing and coordinating maintenance, construction, and improvement projects across the campus. They assist with daily inspections, communicate facilities-wide issues, manage resources, coach zone employees, provide feedback, and promote a productive and safe work environment.

They actively promote equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) while integrating sustainable practices into their operations. The Assistant Zone Manager also collaborates with stakeholders, will manage small capital and expense funded projects, and will ensure code compliance, and participates in personnel-related functions. In the absence of one of the zone managers, the assistant zone manager may be assigned to manage their zone.

This position facilitates the growth of the employee and prepares them for the position of a Zone Manager. Job Description Primary Duties & Responsibilities: Assists the Zone Manager in touring zone and project sites daily to observe, note, and communicate facilities-wide issues.

Assists in directing workers in scheduled maintenance, emergency maintenance, installation, and other necessary functions. Aids in inspecting ongoing and completed work for compliance with codes, quality standards, and campus community needs. Collaborates with the Zone Manager in interacting with contractors, overseeing the contracting process, bidding, and ensuring adherence to contract and/or purchase order terms.

Works closely with the Manager of Engineered Systems to support planned maintenance and building systems. Manages team and is involved with interviewing, hiring, assessment, communication, training/education, progressive discipline, and other personnel-related functions. Aids in managing assigned capital and expense projects, including bid documentation development, sourcing, obtaining quotes, and scheduling and collaborates with the Zone Manager to oversee projects.

Attends OAC (Owner-Architect-Contractor) meetings of large capital projects within Zones to ensure maintenance related issues are addressed and provide/coordinate maintenance support. Performs other duties as assigned.
