Ponte Family Estate Winery opened in 2003 and is a California based company operating in the heart of the Temecula Wine Country. We have been farming our vineyards since 1984 and are a real working winery, growing and producing over 20 estate grown varietals within certified sustainable facilities.

We are located right next to our Four Diamond, 90 room, boutique hotel Ponte Vineyard Inn. We are surrounded by 300 acres of mature vineyards and views of rolling hills. We are a short drive from most of Southern California and enjoy hosting folks who want a break from city life. Our guests visit us seeking a relaxing day or overnight stay in the country.

Job Summary:

The Wine Club Assistant Manager will assist in leading a team dedicated to the growth of the Ponte Wine Club, ensuring accurate membership records, exceptional customer service, and timely shipping of bi-monthly wine club shipments. They will supervise daily operations to improve team performance and foster development, collaborating closely with the Wine Club Manager to achieve organizational goals and maintain operational efficiency. We seek a candidate dedicated to leveraging their expertise to drive the wine club's overall success and growth.

  • Thursday
  • Monday, 9:30 am

  • 6:30 pm

  • Weekends and holidays

  • Occasional evening Member events

Compensation: $66,560.00 annually

The Ideal Candidate will have the following:

  • Has an education in wine sales or 5 year's experience in a sales and Hospitality leadership position.

  • Confident in decision-making.

  • Ability to multi-task in a loud and busy office.

  • Knowledge of business communication, including style and format of letters, memorandum, minutes, and reports.

  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.

  • Ability to handle and resolve recurring problems.

  • Be able to work in a team environment.

  • Provide guest service to our wine club members and guests by telephone, email or in person with accurate and timely information. This includes answering the main Ponte telephone line as needed.

  • Process wine club fulfillment.

  • Coordinate with Marketing for accurate wine club communications.

  • Prepare wine club members for shipment.

  • Back-up Warehouse Manager for puckouts.

  • Ensure delivery of all wine club pieces including newsletter, gift, boxes, pulp, labels, etc. for the pack out promptly.

  • Ensure the wine club packages are packaged consistently and received promptly to exceed our wine club members' expectations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Leadership

  • Lead and manage a team of wine club associates, providing guidance, training, and support under the direction of the Wine Club Manager.

  • Assist with training new associates to adhere to all Ponte service standards, values, and procedures.

  • Assist in opening and closing the Tasting Room, as needed.

  • Regularly communicate with wine club members, providing updates, exclusive offers, and personalized recommendations.

  • Collaborate with the Wine Club Manager to oversee the membership program, focusing on acquisition, retention, and engagement strategies.

  • Complete daily wine club tasks accurately and enter wine club applications and forms with attention to detail.

  • Work closely with the Wine Club Manager to plan and execute special events, ensuring seamless logistics, invitations, and promotional materials.

  • Act as a Brand Ambassador for the Wine Club department focusing on new memberships sales and active member retention.

  • Consistently meets club objectives in sales, service, and membership benchmarks

  • Meet individual and departmental sales goals and budgets.

  • Assist in the Wine Club Reserve Room on weekends and in the Tasting Room as a wine club representative.

  • Assist in answering wine club emails.

  • Back up the Wine Club Shipping Coordinator with daily shipments.

  • Assist in organizing the "Grape Stomp" event.

  • Perform other duties as required.

  • Perform the duties of the Wine Club Manager when they are absent.

Data-Driven Duties

  • Ensure accurate completion of wine club reports on a weekly/ monthly basis.

  • Provide monthly wine club reports as requested by the Wine Club Manager.

Shipping and Fulfillment

  • Process all will-call (wine club) orders; orders day.

  • Process all will-call (non-pickup) orders; orders day.

  • Assist with ensuring all Wine Club procedures are up to date.

  • Assist with daily shipping, as needed.

Technology

  • Proficiency in Outlook, Excel, Word, POS systems, and Inventory Control Systems.

  • Ability to type at least 45 wpm.

  • Proficiency in Vin65 (Wine Direct), TOCK, ALOHA, POS system setup, data entry, and reporting.

  • Monitor and program the POS systems. Act as a liaison with Vin65 and TOCK on all POS issues.

  • Use mobile devices such as iPads and smartphones competently and professionally

Safety Standards

  • Ensure the safety of guests and associates

  • Fully understand and comply with all federal, state, and county regulations that pertain to alcohol consumption safety and labor requirements of the Tasting Room, Reserve Room, and Deck.

  • Ensure the safety of guests and associates by maintaining a clean, safe, and secure Wine Club Office, Tasting Room, Reserve Room, and Deck are compliant with all required OSHA and Cal/OSHA regulations, maintenance, and inspections.

  • Understand and be able to execute Wine Club Department, Tasting Room, Reserve Room, and Deck emergency response procedures, and provide calm, reassuring assistance to guests and fellow associates in the event of an emergency.

Physical Requirements

  • Physical demands with activity or condition for a considerable amount of time including sitting at a computer using a mouse or a keyboard for long periods.

  • Physical demands and activity including but not limited to walking, bending, reaching, standing, and stooping.

  • Be able to lift, lower, push, and carry up to 45 lbs.
