Delaware County Community College (DCCC), located outside of the Philadelphia Metro area, is looking for a dynamic Assistant Vice President for Finance to join our team of higher education professionals who are committed to student success. Candidates who subscribe to the notion of becoming a student-ready college and meeting students where they are, DCCC has a place for you Reporting to the Vice President for Finance & Administration, the Assistant Vice President for Finance (AVP) will be responsible for oversight of all budgets, accounting, business, and financial reporting activities.

As a critical member of the college's Senior Leadership Team, the AVP will be involved in collaborating with leaders across the institution and will have regular opportunities to present financial information to internal and external groups. The AVP will lead and manage all day-to-day budget, accounting, and business operations for the college's operating budget, ensuring that policies, systems, and procedures are in place to support effective daily operations as well as proving a high level of customer service. This position has functional responsibility over accounting, cash management, and investment management.

The AVP will work closely with college leaders and their staff, not only to educate them regarding finance and accounting procedures but also to explore how the finance function can support department and program success. The role of AVP is a leadership position and requires excellent interpersonal skills and possess an attitude of continuous improvement and operational excellence. The AVP will identify and implement best practices for the department and will evaluate and manage performance, staying abreast of emerging trends and bring innovation to the college.

The AVP will prioritize working collaboratively throughout the college to deliver exceptional customer service. Essential Function Manage various direct reports on the Finance team. Prepare and submit required reports by the State and federal government.

Oversee the fixed assets of the College and coordinate the capitalization and depreciation processes. Oversee the annual budget process. Lead the monthly closing process to ensure timely reporting of financial statements.

Coordinate the completion of the annual audit and State reimbursement audits. Review and approve accounting journal entries; prepare necessary adjusting and closing entries; monitor, prepare or approve all cash investment transfers, monitor, prepare or approve all capital assets or the college, including asset control and depreciation. Collect sufficient, accurate and appropriate data for analysis and decision-making purposes.

Manage daily activities of general accounting and financial reporting. Prepare preliminary financial statements, oversee preparation of audit work papers, supplementary information, notes, and prepare college's trial balance. Be proactive in establishing procedures and internal controls.

Research and resolve problems that have escalated. Regularly review existing processes to determine what changes are reasonable and required due to external changes. Identify effectiveness/efficiency objectives and metrics.

Maintain and promote a strong work ethic and adhere to all college standards. Clearly communicate, orally and in writing, financial policies, procedures, and concepts to accounting and non-accounting personnel. Collaborate effectively with internal/external stakeholders.

Participate in interactive, on-site meetings during normal business hours and on a regular basis, regular on-site Finance office hours. Perform other duties as assigned. The successful candidate must be an engaging, effective, innovative, dynamic leader who is strategic and fosters collaboration in a manner that is flexible and supportive yet ensures accountability.

This individual will be able to demonstrate the use of best practice strategies associated with general accounting practices (GAAP), as well as extensive knowledge of internal controls standards and external regulations. The AVP will have a demonstrated ability to encourage, model, embrace, and incorporate diverse thought and perspective of all individuals of various backgrounds, ideas, and perspectives to foster an all-inclusive environment and drive results. Qualified candidates will have a minimum of five (5) years of progressive financial management leadership experience of accounting related activities in a professional setting; higher education, non-profit, or public accounting preferred; experience with grant administration, reporting, and compliance is preferred.

A BA/BS degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting or Finance or a related field of study is required; or equivalent combination of education and related experience; Master’s degree in accounting is preferred. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is preferred. Background Clearances:
