Reporting to the Vice President for Student Success, this position will provide direct supervision and strategic leadership in the areas of Academic Advising and Career Development. As an integral part of the Student Success leadership team, the Assistant Vice President will advocate for student needs, while working to enhance the student experience and provide a comprehensive network of support through the provision of programs and services as well as internal and external opportunities that facilitate student development, engagement, civic responsibility as well as personal and professional growth.
The Assistant Vice President will build and foster relationships with various functional areas on campus to address mutual concern across the departments and colleges, ensuring student needs are prioritized and institutional student oriented goals are achieved.
Provides direct operational oversight for two areas: 1- Academic Advising and 2- Career Development, with direct supervision of five staff members, and a team of approximately 50 staff members
Actively participates in Student Success strategic planning ensuring that developed goals align with the Universitys goals and contribute toward growth & enhancement of services.
Develops and coordinates the dissemination and accessibility of information for part-time and full-time faculty about the resources and services within Student Success
Provides direct leadership to Academic Advising and Career Development and sets a tone of leadership that is student-centered, collaborative and focuses on data- based decision-making.
Build and foster relationships with Human Resources, General Council and the office of institutional Research leadership to develop and implement outcome driven efforts in support of University enrollment, retention and graduation goals.
Leverages data, technology and relevant reports in strategic decision making in collaboration with the Student Success Leadership Team
Acts as a liaison and advocate to campus and community constituents on issues as it relates to student success, that may be sensitive in nature, while working closely with faculty in each of the five colleges on these and other issues
Facilitates trainings and presentations during Orientation, Family Weekend, Commencement and other large scale events and programs
Co-Chairs the Faculty Advisory Board on Undergraduate Advising
Other committee work may be required
