Position Summary The Assistant Vice President of Hospital Pharmacy Services is a key pharmacy leader for Orlando Health (OH) providing support and oversight for inpatient pharmacy operations, hospital-based outpatient pharmacy services, clinical pharmacy services, and the consistent deployment of resources and technology. Responsibilities Participates in setting the strategy, planning, implementation, development and leading the execution of hospital-based pharmacy programs, services, and business offerings across Orlando Health and its subsidiaries.

Collaborates closely with Hospital leaders, system pharmacy leaders, local pharmacy leaders, and physicians to drive the provision of contemporary pharmacy business operations and clinical models of care.

Proactively engage with internal stakeholders, physicians, and other partners to drive growth and achieve clinical, operational, and financial objectives. Supports the enterprise-wide deployment and performance improvement of pharmacy programs in alignment with the OH strategic plan including, acute care pharmacy, pharmacy supply chain, financial performance, business optimization, pharmacy technology, population health, & transitions of care.

Additional oversight and support of pharmacy education, research, medication diversion, 340b program and hospital based shared pharmacy services.

Assists the CPO, VP of Pharmacy with the development and implementation of pharmacy strategic initiatives which are designed to optimize patient care and enhance cost effectiveness. Leads the execution of the hospital pharmacy services' strategic and operating plans.

Identifies and participates in the development of business cases to support advancement of pharmacy practice.

Oversees the hospital-based functions of medication safety, buying/drug shortages, clinical pharmacy, and medication orders/verification. Informs the acute care pharmacy budget planning processes and monitors for performance in coordination with OH Finance for acute pharmacy services.

Participates in development of monitoring metrics (KPIs) for the category's quality/safety, operational efficiency, clinical effectiveness, and financial performance.

Responsible for leading the achievement of performance monitoring metrics for all operating units. Serves as an advisor in prioritizing informatics and automation initiatives to improve care delivery for the acute care setting.

Partner with nursing leadership on safety best practices for patients, team members and providers.

Provides leadership and direction to Directors of Pharmacy and pharmacy team members, serves as the primary point of contact for hospital operating unit leadership. Oversees implementation of drug use initiatives and pharmacy care management initiatives across the acute care pharmacy practice setting.

Ensures the implementation, alignment and standardization of pharmaceutical organizational policies, procedures, and related forms in the acute care practice setting.

Manages complex interdepartmental and interdisciplinary relationships to assure collaboration and effective/efficient operations within acute care pharmacy services. Leads collaborative efforts with supply chain and pharmacy leadership to optimize contracts, purchasing and inventory controls.

Ensures compliance with 340B medication procurement, utilization, and billing.

Meets routinely with OH leaders and business partners to review the operational environment and strategic imperatives for performance improvement opportunities. Completes and submits narratives and other reports to OH leadership and other key partners.

Stays actively involved with state and national pharmacy associations to proactively lead OH in advancing pharmacy practice.

Aligns hospital-based pharmacy services with Orlando Health initiatives. Partners with relevant stakeholders to ensure the business unit(s) maintains readiness for accreditation, certification, licensure, and compliance surveys.

Engages in Human Resources activities as needed to ensure all sites are staffed appropriately.

Proactively supports site leaders in workforce development and employee engagement. Demonstrates success leading projects and initiatives to improve workforce efficiency, quality, safety, and service levels in a complex environment.

Collaborates and builds relationships at all levels of the organization.

Reviews, processes, and responds when appropriate and requested to regulatory and legal matters in accordance with OH policies and procedures. Exhibits a high degree of executive presence and emotional intelligence.

Possesses the ability to recruit and retain highly skilled professional staff with a dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards. Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

Qualifications Education Doctor of Pharmacy degree preferred. A Master's Degree in Healthcare Administration (MHA), Business Administration (MBA), and/or Science (MS) is strongly desired.

Licensure Licensed Pharmacist in the state of FL or eligible for FL licensure (must be obtained within 90 days of hire) is required.

Licensed Consultant Pharmacist in the state of FL is preferred. Required Experience A minimum of four (4) years of senior health system pharmacy leadership experience in a progressive, complex health system overseeing multiple locations. Eight (8) years of progressive work experience in hospital-based pharmacy services and leading performance improvement.
