The Pennsylvania State University is seeking applications and nominations for the position of Assistant Vice President for Undergraduate Education and Executive Director of Undergraduate Admissions. This individual is responsible for providing strategic leadership and management of the Undergraduate Admissions Office and for the organization and implementation of all activities and responsibilities related to the office.

The Executive Director reports directly to the Vice President and Dean for Undergraduate Education and serves as a senior member of the Vice President's leadership group and Enrollment Management Cabinet. The Executive Director of Undergraduate Admissions is responsible for: the analysis of information and data necessary to formulate strategic university-wide admissions and recruiting plans and goals across 12 academic colleges at University Park and 19 Commonwealth Campuses and in coordination with the World Campus; directing and managing the Admissions office budget and staff, including hiring, training, professional development, and evaluation; consulting with other University officials regarding all aspects of undergraduate admissions, including development of new or revised programs, strategies for achievement of admissions goals and special programs, support of Penn State's multi-campus structure and 2+2 option, and articulation of policies and procedures. The Executive Director of Undergraduate Admissions works closely with the Office of Student Aid, the Office of the University Registrar, and college and campus administrations; serves on various University committees, including the University Faculty Senate's Committee on Admissions, Records, Scheduling and Student Aid and the University-level Committee on Undergraduate Enrollment; and maintains external and internal communications and relations with other universities, professional associations, and service organizations to keep informed on national, regional, and local trends in higher education and admissions and represent the University at professional meetings and conferences.

Position requires a Master's degree (or equivalent) and at least five years of effective experience in administration of higher education. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate superior leadership contributing effectively to academic excellence, diversity, and quality improvement in a large multi-campus public university. Essential qualities and skills include, but are not limited to, planning, organizational, and management skills, excellent public speaking and communication abilities, high energy and creativity, capacity to work collaboratively with others, ability to resolve problems, and sound and ethical judgment.

This includes providing executive, administrative, and advisory support related to all matters pertaining to the Vice Provost (VP). The Executive Assistant (EA) is responsible for managing the VP's travel schedule to campuses and conferences and creating related Employee Reimbursement System (ERS) reports. The EA is responsible for the VP's calendar, including summarization/collation of reports, emails, and other information relevant to meetings; and review of scripts, presentations, and materials including PowerPoints for the VP. The EA manages the day-to-day operations of the Office of Planning and Assessment (OPA), including internal and external communications, supervising staff in OPA, overseeing all facility issues, and promoting a team culture that respects diversity, equity and inclusion and supports the effective and efficient management of daily tasks. The EA serves as proxy for the VP in various business applications. This position is the OPA timekeeper in WorkDay; prepares all WorkLion manager documents; serves as the primary budget person for IBIS; and creates reports in FIT. Reporting directly to the VP, the EA acts as liaison with outside agencies, proactively responding to issues, including those of a sensitive and/or confidential nature that may include various personnel-related actions, University committee/task force deliberations, and other matters. The EA provides input/recommendations on critical activities and processes; and resolves inquiries directed to the VP. The EA manages searches and onboarding for all positions in OPA. The EA oversees the coordination of professional development of administrative support staff in the unit. The EA serves as staff support and key point of contact for the Analytics and Business Intelligence Steering Committee, other special committees, and task forces appointed or chaired by the VP. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. As the principal liaison for the VP, the successful candidate must be able to foster and maintain trusted relationships with the University executives, administrators, faculty, and staff. The successful candidate must be highly motivated and exhibit a high degree of professionalism. A proven track record of exercising discretion and independent, excellent judgment, while managing confidential and sensitive information related to budgetary, personnel, and administrative matters is required. The successful candidate must possess exceptional organizational, written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, and exhibit diplomacy, and agility in independently managing multiple priorities.
