The Division of Enrollment Management at Jackson State University is accepting applications for its Assistant Vice President position. The Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Management (AVP-M) at Jackson State University reports directly to the Vice President for Enrollment Management and plays a critical role in leading comprehensive enrollment initiatives aligned with the university's mission and strategic objectives. The AVP-EM oversees all aspects of student recruitment, admissions processing, registration, enrollment strategies, day-to-day operations of the Enrollment Management Division, and compliance with federal and state regulations.

This position is instrumental in advancing Jackson State University's enrollment objectives and supporting student success through innovative enrollment strategies and collaborative partnerships across the institution. The AVP-EM will contribute to a vibrant and diverse university community committed to academic excellence and inclusive student engagement.

Qualifications

Minimum Required Education

Master's degree in Higher Education from a regionally accredited institution.

Minimum Required Experience

  • Five to ten (5-10) years of progressive experience in enrollment management, with a focus on recruitment, admissions, and strategic planning.

  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including 3-5 years of supervisory experience leading professional staff members.

Minimum Required Licenses and/or Certifications

  • Proficiency in enrollment management technologies, such as Banner, CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, Slate), and Microsoft Office suite.

  • Proven success in developing and implementing data-driven recruitment and enrollment strategies.

  • Experience working in a diverse, multicultural environment, with a commitment to equity and inclusion.

  • Strong understanding of federal and state regulations related to admissions, and enrollment processes.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and external partners.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data, interpret trends, and make informed decisions to achieve enrollment goals.

  • Commitment to exemplary customer service and student-centered approaches in enrollment management.

In addition to the required qualifications, preferred qualifications include:

  • Extensive experience in higher education enrollment management, with 10+ years of leadership experience.

  • Knowledge of Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning (IHL) policies and practices related to enrollment management.

  • Experience working with diverse student populations, including students of low socioeconomic status.

  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret data to inform enrollment strategies.

  • Experience in managing large-scale assessment efforts and enrollment-related strategic planning.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Comprehensive knowledge of best practices and emerging issues in enrollment management.

  • Proficiency in managing enrollment budgets and making strategic financial decisions.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Providing visionary leadership and strategic direction for undergraduate and graduate student recruitment efforts, including international recruitment, dual enrollment programs, and outreach initiatives.

  • Developing and implementing innovative enrollment strategies to increase student enrollment, retention, and diversity.

  • Leading and supervising a team of enrollment management professionals, including directors and managers in recruitment, admissions, registration, data analysis, and communications.

  • Collaborating with academic and administrative units to forecast enrollment goals, assess market demands, and develop strategies to achieve enrollment targets.

  • Monitoring and optimizing admissions processes to ensure efficiency and effectiveness, utilizing technology and data-driven decision-making.

  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant federal, state, and institutional policies and regulations governing admissions, registration, tuition residency, and reporting requirements.

  • Managing day-to-day operations of the Enrollment Management Division, including staff supervision, budget oversight, and resource allocation.

  • Fostering partnerships with K-12 districts, community organizations, and other stakeholders to enhance recruitment and enrollment efforts.

  • Collaborating with marketing teams to develop and implement targeted communication and outreach strategies to prospective students.

  • Serving as a liaison between Enrollment Management and other university divisions, including Academic Affairs and Student Affairs, to support comprehensive student success initiatives.

  • Preparing and presenting reports on enrollment trends, projections, and outcomes to university leadership and stakeholders.

  • Staying abreast of emerging trends and best practices in enrollment management to inform strategic decision-making.
