Job Summary

Clayton State University is seeking an Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Management. The Assistant Vice President will lead the offices of Admissions, Recruitment, and Dual Enrollment, as well as overall university enrollment efforts to enhance the success of Clayton State student populations. The ideal candidate has a thorough understanding of enrollment management best practices in higher education, particularly with first-year, adult, and graduate student populations. The candidate will also demonstrate a commitment to student success and play a key role in implementing and executing the University's Strategic Enrollment Plan, Recruitment strategies, and increasing conversion rates.

The Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Management provides leadership for all undergraduate and graduate recruitment and admissions processing, recruitment and campus visits/tours, and activities supporting the re-enrollment of students with a break in enrollment from the university. This role supports and facilitates the matriculation and successful transition of students through a student-centered approach that offers exemplary customer service. The AVP for Enrollment Management provides innovation, leadership, and vision in supporting the unique needs of CSU students. This position reports directly to the Vice President for Enrollment, Marketing, and Student Success (EMSS) and is a vital member of the EMSS Leadership Team.

Responsibilities

In concert with the VPEMSS, this position provides leadership for the enrollment functions. This position will also review and update policies to support a university-wide strategic plan in concert with the mission and goals of the University.

  • The AVP-EM is responsible for the overall oversight of the quality and integrity of all undergraduate and graduate student recruitment (international recruitment), admissions processing, dual enrollment activity, CRM/technology systems implementation, as well as oversee and update all policies, procedures, etc.

  • The AVP will inspire a culture of collegiality, professionalism, achievement, and collaboration. The following positions and/or departments are under the supervision of the AVP: Director of Recruitment/Outreach, Assistant Director, Dual Enrollment, EM Communications, Data Analysis, etc.

  • Oversee the successful implementation of a comprehensive and data-driven university-wide strategic enrollment plan as it relates to the recruitment and enrollment of new students, re-enrollment of students, increased conversion rates, and researching marketing/recruitment strategies. The AVP will also establish annual goals, monitor reports, and modify key initiatives as needed to promote enrollment growth among innovative programs and evaluation of success initiatives as needed.

  • Collaborate with the VP to forecast and assess enrollment goals and projections along with key stakeholders in Academic Affairs, Business, and Operations.

  • Provide oversight of various Enrollment Committees and strategic initiatives, including those related to affordability, access, and equity.

  • Provide leadership to the Office of Admissions and Recruitment, ensuring successful implementation of recruitment strategies and admissions processing as articulated in the strategic enrollment plan and the university's strategic plan.

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for educational and community partners including K-12 district leaders, technical system, and non-profit partners, etc., to increase the matriculation of key student demographics.

  • Ensures compliance with all relevant federal, state, and USG System regulations pertaining to undergraduate and graduate admission, tuition residency determinations, state reporting, waivers, and other requirements.

  • Prepare and present reports effectively, both orally and in writing.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders across academic units to ensure recruitment strategies align with program offerings and market/workforce demands. Monitor workforce data and provide timely responses to emerging trends.

  • In collaboration with marketing, provide input in delivery of a customer service communication plan targeted toward the prospective student target markets.

Required Qualifications

This individual must be able to multi-task, work in a constantly changing environment, and implement creative (outside of the box) enrollment and student success strategies.

  • Masters degree from a regionally accredited institution.

  • 8-10 years of experience in enrollment management with an emphasis related to the duties and responsibilities listed above.

  • 5-7 years of experience supervising and leading professional staff members

  • Must be proficient in Banner, Microsoft Office suite, and CRM Systems (Metabase, Axiom, Salesforce, TargetX, Twilio, etc.) and other enrollment technology.

  • Experience with recruiting and retaining diverse populations.

  • Experience working in a culturally diverse environment.

  • Demonstrated technical experience and CRM proficiency.

  • Demonstrated successful experience in developing, evaluating, and improving recruitment, enrollment and marketing strategies from a data driven perspective.

  • Experience successfully leading and managing multiple teams.

  • Demonstrated successful experience in leading student service/enrollment teams in a higher education setting.

  • Ability to navigate and resolve compliance student issues that may affect student matriculation.

  • Ability to analyze and interpret federal and state regulations related to student recruitment, admission, tuition residency, and other related processes.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • Exemplary interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Demonstrated experience in guiding students and families through the educational process.

  • Proficient technical skills in data management, data processing concepts, and student information systems.

  • Proven track-record as a role model in customer service.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications: In addition to the skills mentioned previously:

  • Thorough knowledge of the policies, procedures, and practices of the area to which assigned.

  • 10+ years of experience in enrollment management

  • General knowledge of the policies, practices, and activities within the USG System and of other departments, such as student affairs engagement practices.

  • Strong analytical skills and demonstrated experience interpreting data to identify areas of improvement.

  • Experience working with students of low socioeconomic status.

  • Experience developing and evaluating higher education enrollment or recruitment plans

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be knowledgeable of the populations that CSU serves, including but not limited to first-generation, adult and non-traditional, historically under-represented, etc., and have the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Extensive knowledge of best practices, emerging issues, research, and policy questions regarding the enrollment and college success of students.

  • Experience managing large-scale assessment efforts, including the development and implementation of recruitment and student success strategic plans.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and administrators in a variety of units at CSU and with external constituents.

  • Prepare and present reports effectively, both orally and in writing.

  • Demonstrated experience achieving goals and targets for sustaining enrollment through recruitment funnel and outreach campaigns as well as identify growth and expansion opportunities based on emerging data and trends.

  • Demonstrated experience utilizing platforms to engage various populations, including underrepresented populations, and experience adapting recruitment strategies based on the targeted populations.

  • Demonstrated experience conducting data analyses needed to plan, promote, and evaluate enrollment initiatives.

  • Demonstrated experience organizing and directing professional and administrative personnel to execute projects/tasks.

  • Communicate institutional and system-wide policies to staff in a timely and efficient manner.

  • Supports a culture of exemplary customer service.

  • Oversee all enrollment budgets and make sound and creative financial decisions.

  • Ability to make sound data-informed decisions.

  • Other duties as assigned.

This position collaborates with the Enrollment, Marketing, and Success/Retention units within the EMSS and works alongside other divisions such as Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and other units across the institution to promote and increase enrollment.
