Job Description:
The Assistant Vice President for Compliance, Chief Compliance Officer, is a key member of the Finance & Administration team. The Chief Compliance Officer plays an integral role in ensuring the LSU System institutions comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and ethical standards. The position is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing a comprehensive system-wide compliance program focused on a culture of compliance, integrity and ethical conduct.
Job Responsibilities:
25%- Compliance Program - lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the LSU System's compliance program, policies, and procedures based on the laws and regulatory requirements applicable to academic and research enterprises.
25%- Risks Assessment, Audits and Investigations: conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential compliance vulnerabilities and strategies for risk mitigation; develop and implement procedures for auditing compliance reporting and investigation of allegations of non-compliance, ethical violations, or misconduct in coordination with the LSU Office of Internal Audit.
20%- Regulatory Compliance and Reporting: Continuous monitoring and review of federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to higher education; oversee and/or handle the preparation and submission of required reports to regulatory agencies, the LSU Board of Supervisors, the Board of Regents, and executive leadership.
10%- Ethics, Training and Education: develop and implement a compliance training program and create procedures and processes to promote ethical behavior and compliance awareness among faculty, staff, and students.
10%- Policy Development: Collaborate with the Offices of Academic Affairs, Enrollment Management, Finance & Administration, Research and Economic Development, the General Counsel, and system campuses to develop, review, and revise policies and procedures that promote compliance and ethical behavior.
5%- Tax Compliance and Data Privacy: coordinate with Academic Affairs, Accounting Services, Information Technology, the Chief Data Officer, and the Office of Research and Economic Development to ensure compliance with federal, state, and international tax laws; and compliance with data privacy and security regulations.
5%- Other Duties as Assigned: provides additional support for the Executive Vice President for Finance and Administration as needed for special projects and reporting.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree with 7-10 years of related experience (5 years of experience at the management or supervisory level). Knowledge of compliance reporting, policy development and auditing.
Preferred Qualifications: JD, MBA, MPA; higher education or state government experience preferred.
