We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Assistant Unit Director- RN

who is passionate about bringing their expertise to Adult Psychiatry.

Unit Highlights:

  • Unit is an intensive therapeutic interdisciplinary environment devoted to acutely ill adult patients.

  • This unit treats patients with a wide-range of diagnoses with individualized programs utilizing a mix of modalities, one-on-ones and groups.

  • Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), an evidence based approach is utilized in the milieu; staff has the opportunity to learn approach from ACT licensed expert

Position Highlights:

  • The Assistant Unit Director serves as the clinical liaison and assistant business manager for the Adult Psychiatric Unit.

  • Accountability for nursing practice as a key member of the leadership team.

  • Serves as the Unit Director ( UD) designee in the absence of UD

  • Implements initiatives in support of the unit vision, while managing human, operational and organizational systems that support patient care.

Knowledge/Skills and Abilities:

  • Current IL RN license

  • Ideal candidate will have a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or higher

  • 3 years of acute care clinical experience. ( Psych nursing experience required)

  • Demonstrated progressive leadership ability with achieved outcomes.

  • Psychiatric nursing leadership experienced preferred.

  • National Nursing Certification required within 12 months of hire.

No weekend hours, holidays or call Principal Duties and Responsibilities: * Provide telephone triage regarding symptom assessment, information, intervention and appropriate Physician referral for patients * Telephone triage and assess patients' acute conditions and initiate a treatment plan * Call patients regarding follow-up, test results, medical instruction, and patient education * Acts as a liaison for patient, physician, and other team members * Schedules nurse appointments for procedures, tests, and education in Epic. * Performs procedures in accordance with accepted standards of nursing practice * Educates patients and family members about disease process, treatment modalities, medications, home care, procedures, and follow-up recommendations * Assists in the maintenance and preparation for Joint Commission, IDPH, and other regulatory inspections * Identifies and participates in QI activities.
