The Assistant Transportation Director reports to the Transportation Director and helps oversee the planning, operation and administration of a safe and efficient transportation system which meets the Norwood School District's requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assist the Director in planning, organizing, and supervising the pupil transportation program.
Help administer the establishment of all bus routes, field, and extracurricular trips.
Assist the Director in coordination of bus routing, scheduling, and street mapping.
Assist the Director in plans and programs for equipment upgrades and vehicle replacement.
Assist the Director in department budget development.
Assist the Director in both oral and written presentations to the school committee and staff.
Help develop and administer department policies and procedures.
Help maintain Driver, SAFIS, and CORI records.
Obtain and maintain a MA RMV 7D driving certificate.
Serve as first line of communication with drivers.
Develop both in district and out of district SPED Routes with corresponding driver assignments.
Monitor status of SPED Routes.
Coordinate driver assignment and fill in as required.
Assist in Vehicle Maintenance Coordination.
Assist in effective communication with parents, staff, and school personnel.
Supervise the School Bus Pass Program with all Annual Updates and School Committee approved changes/modifications.
Coordinate with School Bus Contractor regarding routing, bus stops, and operational matters.
Assist in all McKinney Vento Transportation requests.
Maintain all files as required.
Supervise personnel in Bus Pass Program
Perform any other duties as may be required.
