Description: Assistant Track Coach (JV and Varsity) The Assistant Coach acts under the direction of the Head Coach.

He/She is also responsible for oversight of the football program and administering the sport in a manner that is consistent with the policies and procedures of the Bedford County Public School Division and Liberty High School Athletic Department. The ideal candidate will have an appropriate combination of education, training, and experience working with students. The successful candidate will have the knowledge, skills and judgment needed to build and maintain positive and productive relationships with athletes, parents, faculty, staff, administrators, coaches and community members.

Responsibilities and Duties: Assist with the day-to-day operations of the program. Assist in or organize and coordinate all team functions, including practices, competitive schedules, travel, and fundraising.

Supervise student athletes when traveling. Successfully recruit LHS/LMS student athletes. Manage and document student athletes' academic and athletic progress.

Provide advising support functions, including following up on academic at-risk reports. Develop conditioning and practice programs to ensure student athletes are appropriately prepared and adhere to all safety protocols and directives from training staff and other medical providers. Create and maintain a safe, inclusive, productive and effective team environment on and off the playing field.

Cultivate a positive team oriented culture with an expectation of accountability. Motivate student athletes to peak performance on the field and in the classroom. Assist the Head Coach in coordinating community outreach efforts.

Oversee some facility events and management or those events. Assist the Head Coach in facility management and upkeep. Commitment to student-centered athletics.

Maintain a positive relationship with the student athlete and his/her family and be accessible for instruction regarding athletic, academic and personal issues. Establish and maintain positive working relationships with all stakeholders, to include but not limited to, Athletic Director, Campus Administration, Faculty/Staff, Parents, Community members and supporting Athletic Booster Club(s) and members. Provide service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible and professional engagement.

Athletic Director and to the Head Coach. Qualifications: Required: Coaching experience at the college or high school level is preferred. Additional Requirements:

Upon hiring, a criminal background check will be conducted. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk and stand continuously. The employee will frequently be required to reach with hands and arms; stop, kneel, crouch and crawl.

The employee continuously uses hand strength to grasp tools/objects. The employee must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Relationship Management - able to personally provide a high level of interactive service to others, building relationships and addressing identified needs.

Team Orientation & Interpersonal - highly motivated team player with ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with all levels within and external to the organization. Independent work - able to work independently with limited supervision and able to self motivate.
