Saint Joseph's College of Maine is seeking to hire an Assistant Coach - Track and Field!
St. Joseph's College is a small Catholic, liberal arts institution located in Standish, Maine and is a NCAA Division 3 member of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC). The Track & Field program enters its 11th year and boasts a new T&F facility that rivals the top facilities in New England.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Supports the department of Athletics by:
Assisting the Head Coach in all phases of the sports program
Coordinating recruiting efforts for the Track & Field program
Coaching specified track and field events
Adhering to and enforcing all policies and procedure of the Department of Athletics and the College
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Identify qualified prospective student-athletes for Saint Joseph's College and the Track & Field program
Develop and maintain strong relationships with local high school track and field coaches
Work collaboratively with the AVP/CARO, Track & Field Head Coach, and the Admissions Office to recruit and retain student-athletes
Organize recruiting efforts effectively through various modes including, but not limited to, text, phone, social media, e-mail, and/or handwritten communications
Report recruiting metrics regularly to the AVP/CARO as requested
Ensure full compliance with NCAA guidelines in all aspects of the recruiting process
Complete all required departmental and institutional training and certification programs, and participate in available professional development opportunities
Adhere to and enforce all policies and procedures of the athletic department and institution, as well as the GNAC and NCAA
Coordinate with the athletic training staff and the strength and conditioning coaches
Ensure the safety for all by following prudent protocols during practice, as well as through careful monitoring of the equipment and facilities utilized by the team
Provide instruction and guidance in specified track and field events that may include: jumps, vault, throws, sprints
Mentor student-athletes
Ensure student-athletes commitment to their academics
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Knowledge and experience in coaching or playing a specific sport
Proven experience recruiting and retaining student-athletes
First Aid, CPR, AED certified (Certification can be completed after hire, but should be completed prior to the season)
Valid driver's license
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
Computer competence in word processing, recruiting software, database management and electronic mail
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
