Provides general office support to the Office of the University Registrar by performing the following duties. Temporary position, hours will vary based on assignment. Posting is to establish an eligibility list for temporary positions)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Other duties may be assigned.
1.Assist with student, staff and faculty walk-in traffic for the office.
2.Assist with maintenance of report logs for incoming and outgoing forms and student requests.
3.Maintain tracking system for file processing for new student files and documents.
4.Complete and provide assistance with semester student mailings and notifications.
5.Assist in preparing Athlete and Veteran files for certification by the certifying officials.
6.Assist with the typing and preparation of degree evaluations.
7.Provide assistance in the preparation of enrollment verifications.
8.Assist with arranging meetings, prepare agendas, reserve and prepare facilities.
9.Receive and distribute incoming mail, and prepare outgoing mail and correspondence.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

VIEW JOBS 9/23/2018 12:00:00 AM 2018-12-22T00:00 Rate of pay $15.86 This is a 40 hour week position. This is a key Lab Administrative support position with some lab assistant duties. Under the direction of the Lab Manager, and/or Laboratory Director, as well as operating within established guidelines and procedures, responsibilities of this position include sixty percent (70%) administrative and thirty percent (30%) or laboratory work. The administrative duties of this position are primary over the laboratory work. 1. Administrative - 70% * Order laboratory reagents, supplies and equipment * Maintain inventories of laboratory reagents, supplies and equipment * Contact vendors and service companies for equipment and laboratory maintenance/repair * Ensure laboratory is well-stocked and resourced * Maintain and organize service agreements and purchase orders * Take meeting minutes * Greet and direct visitors * Answer and direct phone calls * Assist with laboratory budgeting * Other administrative tasks as needed 2. Laboratory - 30% * Load insect and/or chopping and loading plant samples into DNA extraction plates * Receive, label and prepare insect and plant samples * Participate in lab and office clean up * Maintain and operate laboratory equipment * Assist in diagnostic reporting result and data management * Examine, analyze and evaluate data * Follow safety procedures and safety checks III. WORK ENVIRONMENT The incumbent in this position will be required, with or without reasonable accommodation, to operate a desktop computer using a keyboard and mouse; employ repetitive arm and wrist motions; operate general laboratory equipment (pipettes, biosafety cabinets, centrifuges, tissue homogenizers); occasionally bend, stoop, twist, reach; and, lift file or supply boxes of up to twenty pounds. IV. INDIVIDUAL REQUIREMENTS A combination of experience and education that provides the required knowledge, skill, and abilities: * Intermediate level experience with MS Office Suite- particularly Excel * Familiarity with general biological laboratory equipment, reagents and supplies * Laboratory coursework * Good aseptic skills * Strong organizational skills The incumbent in this position must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Strong verbal & written communication skills, and attention to details are necessary. Possession of a valid California driver's license and acceptable driving record are required. Incumbent will be required to be available for occasional extended days and travel subject to operational needs. V. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS The incumbent in this position will be required, with or without reasonable accommodation, to operate a desktop or laptop computer using a keyboard and mouse; operate various types of laboratory scientific equipment; handle plant and insect specimens; employ repetitive arm and wrist motions; and, occasionally lift equipment and related supplies weighing up to 25 pounds.
