Assistant To Surgical Coordinator - Data Entry/Entry Level - No Weekends, Full Benefits!

Tidewater Eye Centers is looking to hire a Surgical Counselor Assistant to join our growing team. The Surgical Counselor Assistant will be a key member of the Surgical Coordination team. Our ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, be detail oriented and have a willingness to learn.

Location: Virginia Beach, VA - some required travel to Portsmouth, VA. Travel is paid in mileage and time worked.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Stay current with the latest technologies & medications and be able to answer general patient questions.

• Liaison between the clinic and surgical center.

• Confirm paperwork processes.

• Must comply with all policies and procedures of the organization, including but not limited to standard operating procedures and employee handbook.

Education:

• Minimum of HS Diploma

Skills & Experience:

• 2+ years of experience in a medical or surgical environment (ophthalmology preferred).

• Experience with an EMR and EPM.

• Understanding of medical benefits verification/eligibility.

• Knowledge of procedural terminology and coding.

• Knowledge of anatomy of the eye.
