Job Summary

The Assistant Technical Director is responsible for ensuring CRVA facilities meet all client's technical requirements including lighting, audio, video, rigging, setting, and internet.

Essential Job Duties

  • Consults with clients and supervisor to determine client requirements for all technical aspects of each event and determines needs prior to event.

  • Directs activities of stagehands during events to ensure safe and efficient use of equipment to deliver quality service to client.

  • Coordinates communication during events between the building staff and the event production staff.

  • Oversees the opening of seating area with show production manager and communicates with appropriate staff to begin patron entry.

  • Monitors parking traffic and patron entry lines to determine if delayed start time is needed.

  • Operates fly rail indirectly through supervision or directly based on show requirements.

  • Records equipment, material, and labor usage to create labor and incidentals invoices for management use.

  • Tests and maintains building equipment to ensure readiness for events.

  • Operates AutoCAD LT to simplify creation of stage diagrams and seating charts for use in determining optimal stage configuration.

  • Has basic knowledge of Microsoft Office to generate Excel spreadsheets and Word documents.

  • Uses knowledge of electricity, electronics, optics, and high-pressure Xenon tubes to maintain all facility spot lights.

  • Operates house chain motors to hang show lighting and audio equipment.

  • Assists the IT Department in maintaining facility internet system to provide continuous coverage for client and front of house staff.

  • May perform other duties as required.

  • This job will have periodic access to confidential data including wages and salaries, customer quotes, product costs, and company plans, designs, and programs.

Supervisory Responsibility

  • This job has no supervisory responsibility.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Ability to anticipate customer needs, builds positive relationships with customers and vendors, goes the extra mile to satisfy and exceed customer needs.

  • Treats all customers and vendors with the highest degree of respect and courtesy

  • Delivers exceptional service to internal and external customers.

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma (H. S.) and five or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software; spreadsheet software; power equipment; lighting equipment; audio equipment; video equipment; rigging equipment; counterweight fly system; computer networking; headset communication and two-way radio.

Physical Demands

  • The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 100 pounds.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

  • While performing the duties of this role, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel and talk or hear.

  • The employee is frequently required to stand and walk.

Work Environment

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, may be high depending upon the event.

Job Summary The part-time Engineering Technician 1 assists with maintenance and repair in the areas of electrical, structure buildup and teardown, and building maintenance at Bojangles' Coliseum & Ovens Auditorium. Employee must be able to complete jobs in a timely manner, work independently as well as with other team members. Essential Job Duties * Install all electrical components for events in CRVA facilities. * Work with supervisor to ensure all setup is done to meet client expectations. * Teardown shows and clean up areas for next scheduled event. * Maintain all equipment in facility that is part of the heating and cooling systems. * May assist with HVAC repairs, etc. * Ensure proper light set up prior to all events. * Coordinate with vendors on facility floor to ensure accuracy of detailed floor plans. * Assist other engineering staff with painting, carpentry, dry wall repair, etc. * May perform other duties as required. * Must be able to work a flexible schedule which may include days, nights, weekends and/or holidays. * Must be able to work at heights up to 100 feet. * Knowledge of Metasys building automation system * Assist with ice floor installation, removal, and daily maintenance. * Must be able to use ladders, lifts and scaffolding to perform daily repairs. Education and Experience * A High School Diploma is required and a minimum of two years specialized schooling or related experience in at least one of the disciplines listed below: * Areas of expertise for the Venue Engineering programs may include, but are not limited to the following: o Electrical o Plumbing o HVAC o Ice Technician o Carpentry/Painting o Mechanical Trades (doors, locks, alarm systems, etc.) Physical Demands * The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds. * Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
