Summary:
Assists in supervising Tellers by scheduling/assigning work and evaluating staff
performance, performs the duties of a Teller including daily balancing, and proving own drawer, the vault, ATMs and Branch transactions. Complies/ensures Tellers comply with Teachers policies, procedures and guidelines, and ensures adequate supplies of cash and negotiable items are on hand.
Education/Experience:
A high school education or GED.
Minimum of 1-2 years Teller experience and knowledge of Teachers FCU systems, products, services, policies, procedures, protocols and applicable laws/regulations required. Strong communication, interpersonal, customer service, mathematical, problem solving, multitasking and computer skills and detail orientation required.
Job Responsibilities:
Ensures Tellers are appropriately supplied with cash by monitoring their cash on hand, replenishing deficiencies from the vault or transferring excess cash from other Tellers, and moving cash in excess of prescribed amounts to the vault.
Reviews checks accepted by Tellers on an ongoing basis to ensure they are valid, correct and appropriately signed. Approves checks within prescribed dollar limits, and proofs, scans and packages checks at the end of each day.
Performs the duties of a Teller, maintains workstation security, balances the Teller drawer and builds/strengthens member relationships by greeting them in a courteous/ professional manner, providing superior member service and processing transactions accurately/efficiently.
Reconciles the vault on a daily basis and researches issues. Inventories negotiable items (e.g., travelers, gift checks) and advises the Supervisor of the need to reorder.
Reconciles Branch ATMs by counting cash and checks, deposits and withdrawals/transfers. Processes transactions, holds or clears checks according to Teachers FCU policies, adjusts accounts as needed and contacts members to advise them of issues.
Maintains the Branch coin machine by troubleshooting problems, emptying it, updating the log, proofing it and entering required information into the appropriate GL account.
Cross-sells Teachers FCU products/services by advising members of their benefits, features, and rates, identifying potential sales opportunities and referring members to Financial Services Representatives for further assistance. Promotes staff's cross-selling activities.
Maintains inventory of cash on hand and advises the Supervisor of the need to order. Orders cash as directed, counts and logs cash shipped into the Branch, and adjusts the GL as appropriate.
Reconciles Teller transactions involving money orders, travelers/official/gift checks, cash advances and reviews reports at the beginning and end of the day to verify the accuracy of recorded transactions.
Trains new Tellers as assigned, and ensures effective Teller performance by spot checking them on a periodic basis, evaluating their performance, providing guidance/coaching, and recommending additional training/disciplinary action as necessary.
Keeps abreast of and complies with Teachers FCU policies, procedures, guidelines. Keeps the Supervisor informed of activities, conditions and issues.
Works at other Branches as assigned and assumes the duties of the Supervisor in his/her absence.
