Job Description
Campbellsville University is seeking a passionate and experienced Assistant Supervisor of Grounds to join our Facilities Management team. The Assistant Supervisor will play a pivotal role in maintaining the aesthetic appeal, safety, and functionality of the university's outdoor environment. Reporting directly to the Supervisor of Grounds, this position involves overseeing a team of groundskeepers and collaborating closely with other departmental staff to uphold the highest standards of landscape management and environmental stewardship across campus.
Responsibilities:
Assist the Supervisor of Grounds in leading and directing the daily operations of the groundskeeping team, including scheduling, task assignment, and performance management.
Coordinate and prioritize maintenance activities, including mowing, pruning, planting, fertilizing, watering, and pest control, to ensure the health and vitality of campus landscapes, lawns, and gardens.
Collaborate with landscape architects and designers to implement landscape enhancement projects, such as garden renovations, tree plantings, and hardscape installations, that enhance the beauty and functionality of outdoor spaces.
Oversee the maintenance and repair of groundskeeping equipment, tools, and vehicles, ensuring they are properly serviced, operated, and stored to maximize longevity and efficiency.
Implement sustainable landscape practices, such as water conservation, native plantings, and integrated pest management, to minimize environmental impact and promote ecological resilience on campus.
Help direct moving workorders through the University.
Enforce safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe working environment for groundskeeping personnel and ensure compliance with all applicable codes and standards.
Foster positive relationships with university stakeholders, including students, faculty, staff, and community members, by actively participating in campus events, tours, and outreach initiatives.

Qualifications:
High School Diploma
Minimum of 3 years of experience in grounds maintenance, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role.
Strong knowledge of plant identification, soil science, irrigation systems, and landscape design principles.
Demonstrated proficiency in operating groundskeeping equipment and machinery.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to prioritize tasks, manage resources effectively, and adapt to changing priorities in a dynamic environment.
Knowledge of sustainable landscaping practices and environmental regulations.
Experience working in a university or institutional setting is preferred but not required
