SUMMARY: Develops, oversees and manages the day-to-day operations of educational programs and services for the district. Plans, develops and implements functions related to curriculum, instruction, staff development and system-wide accountability.
ESSENTIAL ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversees the collection and distribution of all data indicators (multiple attribute attendance and migration, and disaggregates for economic disadvantage, English learners, special needs, etc.) in the District with academic data for inclusion in The District Accountability Plan and the District Data Team.
In concert with the Central Office administrative leadership team, outlines the work of the District Data Team.
Supervises and evaluates building administrators.
Reviews and assists the Board of Education in revising Board Policy.
Coordinates and Facilitates the work of the Operations and Policy Committees of the Board of Education.
Oversees the development and implementation of instructional programs with the Office of Teaching & Learning.
Plans for and leads Full Administrative Council meetings.
Assists in the development of the district budget from initial concept to final presentation.
Acts on own discretion if emergency action is necessary in any matter not covered by Board policy.
Monitors consistent implementation of contracts and policies.
Assists the Board of Education and Superintendent in communicating our work to families, the community and City officials and staff.
Presents facts and explanations necessary to assist the Board in its duty of policy making.
Participates in staff negotiations with professional and non-professional bargaining units to coordinate the work of building administrators throughout the district.
Conducts student expulsion hearings representing administration.
Creates and updates the district's Safe School Climate Plan, related policy and regulations, and plans in each school.
Assists to design, implement and monitor personnel Action Plans for improved performance which may lead to dismissals and resignations.
Oversees the Alliance District Grant and/or other grants.
Oversees the processing and submission of required reports.
Functions as the Title IX Compliance Officer, Civil Rights Officer, Sexual Harassment Officer, ADA Section 504 oversight.
Interviews prospective certified teachers and administrators.
Works with the Office of Teaching & Learning to plan and implement administrators' professional development.
Oversees work of the Community Communications Coordinator.
Oversees buildings and grounds inclusive of construction/renovation projects.
Oversees the District's gifted program.
Organizes and promotes 'Dress Down Days' for the District, raising ~$30,000 annually for Bristol non-profit organizations as well as student or staff needs and the Bristol Board of Education Employees Immediate Response Fund.
Participates on a variety of community committees representing the Board of Education such as the Chamber of Commerce and United Way.
Shall perform other functions as required by the Superintendent of Schools.
Participates in supervisory process for all administrators and selected teachers.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Ph.D./Ed.D. Prior experience as Deputy or Assistant Superintendent preferred. Experience in leading the work highlighted in the roles and responsibilities of this position.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES & REGISTRATIONS:
State of Connecticut Administrative 092/093 Certification.
