Concrete, Assistant Trade Lead

The Assistant Trade Lead works between the design, construction materials, integrated services and field teams and are responsible for assisting the project team with planning, management and administration of the project(s) to which they are assigned. This person must be able to multitask and maintain a positive outlook in stressful situations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Learn, understand and adhere to company safety policies and programs. Including participating in safety meetings, walks, and other related tasks.

  • Ability to independently manage multiple scopes of work - both subcontracted and self-performed.

  • Responsible for coordinating, organizing, tracking, updating and/or expediting the flow of information, files, drawings, permits, and correspondence.

  • Assist in subcontractor management by helping the superintendent coordinate the schedule of subcontractor operations and logistics.

  • Schedule, attend, and take minutes at key project meetings.

  • Participate in, and lead, assigned elements of project closeout including punch list, owner turnover manuals and required owner training.

  • Participate in weekly planner/subcontractor coordination meetings and track weekly planner data.

  • Report directly to the Trade Manager.

  • Attend all necessary meetings.

  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and learning including successfully working in multicultural environments

Required Skills & Experience

  • A successful candidate will have a minimum 2 years in construction in a dynamic and fast paced role.

  • Proven track record of on-time performance and quality installation in multifamily construction environments

  • Ground-up multi-family experience

  • Basic understanding of field production, project scheduling, estimating and take off's.

  • Must have strong technical acumen, and a willingness to learn new construction techniques and programs.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Higher education preferred

  • Trade License and certificates demonstrating skills in the area of expertise

  • Ability to work in a fluid and fast pace environment

  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certified

On assigned project(s) the Superintendent plans, organizes and controls company resources and provides leadership, clear direction, and good example to assigned company personnel and craft personnel to achieve customer satisfaction and attainment of schedule, cost, and profit objectives while adhering to safety and quality requirements and company policies. Work Location: This position is based in CONUS and will require travel throughout the CONUS Key Responsibilities: * Interprets client plans and specifications; becomes familiar with project and local labor agreements * Reviews and becomes familiar with the schedule of the work - Plans and tracks work to ensure efficient use of resources * Communicates any deviations and accounts for them properly * Becomes familiar with the site safety plan and project safety requirements - Ensures all activities are done safely * Reviews and becomes familiar with the site quality plan and project quality requirements * Becomes familiar with the agreements of the Pre Job Mark-Up Conference and the agreed craft jurisdictions of the work and respects the established jurisdictions between the building and construction trades * Ensures that assigned personnel do not make changes or alterations to the work without proper written instruction * Manages and controls rental equipment use, and ensures proper care of the company tools and equipment * Ensures through field presence and observation that the work is being completed in accord with plans and specifications; documents all daily activity Additional Responsibilities: * May lead a group of subordinate superintendents * Advises management of any issues that arise (regarding employee relations, safety and quality) * Writes progress reports to be submitted to the client and company management * Understands union jurisdiction issues and prevents grievances * Performs the duties of Construction Manager when requested * Performs other duties as assigned by management Skills / Qualifications Education and Experience Requirements: * High School diploma required; College credit and workshop completion in engineering, construction or business topics are desirable * Field construction supervisory experience within the crafts is essential * A minimum of 8 years experience as a Superintendent is required * Overall, 12+ years construction remediation and environmental experience working in the process and/or utility/power construction industry * In rare cases, significant experience (10-15 years) in technical supervision can substitute for the educational requirement * Knowledge and familiarity with the methods, practices, crafts, tools, equipment, codes, documents, drawings, specifications, requirements, functions and control systems of the construction business * May supervise larger projects than lower level superintendents and may supervise multiple disciplines Skills Requirements: * Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings * Strong leadership and team building skills * Planning and organizational skills * Communication skills; listens and gets clarification * Leads by example; takes responsibility for own actions; exhibits confidence in self and others * Delegates work assignments by matching the responsibilities and capabilities to the personnel; effectively follows-up and provides support * Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner * Excellent oral and written communication skills; listens and gets clarification * Ability to read and analyze reports and graphs * Treats people with respect; works with integrity and ethics * Follows through on commitments; willing to do what it takes to meet company objectives Physical Requirements: * Frequently required to sit and stand in the office and move about the work area * May require close vision work and travel away from home, sometimes for extended periods * Ability to walk about a construction site or operating plant or power station and the ability to climb stairs or ladders and walk on elevated plant platforms * Ability to wear and use personal protective equipment while in the work area of the jobsite including hard hat, fall protection harness, respirator, safety glasses/goggles, escape breathing device, noise protection, fire-retardant coveralls, protective work boots and gloves Company Overview Wood is a global leader in the delivery of project, engineering and technical services to energy and industrial markets.
