General Duties
This is a district-level position with administrative responsibility for the following areas: 1) curriculum and instruction; 2) professional development; 3) technology services; 4) testing coordination and data management; 5) information officer. In addition, administrative responsibilities include assisting in the development of annual goals and long-range planning, supervision of teacher certification, and management of district-level budgets, grants and reports. The Assistant Superintendent functions as the administrator in charge in the absence of the Superintendent.
Qualifications
Masters degree or Doctorate
New York State Teaching Certificate
New York State Administrative Certificate (One of the following):
New York State School District Administrative Certificate (SDA); OR
New York State School Administrator/Supervisor (SAS); OR
School District Leader (SDL)
Prior experience as an administrator
3-5 years teaching experience
Demonstrated success in improving student performance
Strong track record in staff development and technology integration

Responsibilities
Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment:
Has primary responsibility for guiding the instructional program
Serves as the Superintendent's representative to the Curriculum Council
Coordinates effort of all curriculum development committees
Responsible for all educational programming, instructional priorities and curriculum development
Plans and introduces Standards-aligned program initiatives in keeping with the district's strategic plan
Assists with implementation of Social-Emotional Learning efforts (shared with Assistant Superintendent for PPS)
Assists with implementation of Cultural Competence efforts
Conducts task forces as per the district's strategic plan
Observes and evaluates teacher performance
Works with building principals and teachers to forward instructional programs
Establishes and supports vertical teams and grade transitions
Curriculum / Authentic Learning / Cultural Competence Committee Chair
Coordinates annual update and publication of pacing calendars and course guides
Leads MTSS process districtwide (in partnership with Assistant Superintendent for PPS)
Establishes academic intervention plans in concert with building administration
Allocates and coordinates District Intervention staff as needed
Prepares CR Part 154 and NCLB Title Grants (Title I, II, III, IV) and end of year reports
Writes additional grants as applicable to district program
Prepares public presentations on district initiatives, school performance and budget
Interprets the district's instructional program and policies to parents and the community; recommend revisions to policies
Oversees warehousing and use of instructional data
Conducts studies and completes research required as a basis for curriculum management and change
Attend and present at Board program and policy committee meetings
Provide presentations to Board and community on instructional program
Interpret and communicate instructional program to school community
Supervise Kindergarten registration

Professional Development
Responsible for district-wide professional development program and budget
Organizes Superintendent's Conference Days and early release days (in partnership with Assistant Superintendent for PPS, T&L and Business)
Offers parent workshops
Organizes workshops for administration and school-related personnel
Develops program of in-service credit courses
Oversees training of staff in use of instructional software and programs
Establishes protocols for approval of conferences and workshops
Teachers Center Liaison
Testing Coordination and Data Management
Responsible for district-wide state assessment testing, scorer training and data management (NYS, AP, IB, Aimsweb, etc.)
Supervise the review and correction of NYSED Testing reports
Coordinate with BOCES for Data Warehouse and Regents scoring services
Work with building principals to establish district-wide testing schedule
Research, recommend and implement software for data management solutions
Student Information System oversight
District Data Liaison to LHRIC
District registration
Maintain and track student enrollment
