D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for an Assistant Superintendent for their Construction Department. The right candidate will assist the superintendent with the management of all functions of the job site as it relates to home construction, including but not limited to scheduling and supervising job site.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the Superintendent in schedule subcontractors

  • Must recognize and enforce quality standards

  • Review houses daily to ensure readiness for next trade

  • Learn the need for uniformity in construction methods within the company, support company policies and construction standards, suggest improvements within the system, and execute policies to ensure compliance with quality standards

  • Monitor subdivision cleanliness and hold the subcontractor responsible for daily clean-up

  • Walk each completed home before the homeowner walk-through to make sure that the home is complete and clean and meets standards of quality

  • Make sure house in complete without any outstanding items before the closing sign off

  • Conduct homeowner orientation and re-walk ensuring customer satisfaction

  • Calls and walks all inspections with inspectors

  • Inspect each house to determine the status per the production schedule

  • Assure the quality of workmanship and that all work is in accordance with the plans and specifications

  • Walks units to assure they are ready for inspections and subcontractors the day before they are due to arrive

  • Prep all units for final inspections and homeowner walk-through

  • Note outstanding homeowner walk-through items and schedule subcontractor to repair

  • In absence of superintendent make sure all schedules are met

Education and/or Experience

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Must have a vehicle, a valid driver's license, and be willing to travel.

VIEW JOBS 9/11/2018 12:00:00 AM 2018-12-10T00:00 JOB SUMMARY This position assists the Wastewater Superintendent in the supervision and operation of the City's wastewater treatment plant(s) and personnel in a manner that complies with the United States Environmental Protection Agency and Texas Commission on Environmental Quality rules and regulations Must be able to read and interpret the plant's and City's Effluent Discharge Permit parameters. JOB SCOPE: Consists of Administrative, Supervisory, Risk Management, Emergency Management, Technical Abilities, Scheduling, Communication, Training, Storm Water Management, Industrial Pretreatment Program, make sure all aspect of the Wastewater Treatment Department is in compliance will all permits and control authorities. PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: The listed duties are essential job functions that the position has been created to perform. Attendance and punctuality is an essential function of this position. DUTIES 1. Plans work schedules to maximize utilization of personnel and equipment with high production and efficiency to achieve compliance with requirements of the Pretreatment Program. 2. Technical Ability: Assist in supervision of overall operation and maintenance of Wastewater Treatment Plant (Including: hiring, evaluating, training, discipline and scheduling) Ability to make decisions in the absence of the Wastewater Superintendent. 3. Communicate with State and Federal Agencies, Industrial Pretreatment Users, County Officials, residents, city personnel, vendors and contractors through phone calls, in-person and written correspondence. 4. Training: Attend regulatory seminars and training to maintain a full working knowledge of State and Rule changes pertaining the wastewater plant. 5. Budget: Assist with the annual budget, track budget expenses, recommend new expenses, write specifications for vehicles/equipment 6. Operate the vehicles and perform the physical feats necessary to set up, secure, remove, and maintain the equipment and tools used in collecting samples from facilities as required. 7. Emergency Management: Plan, organize and coordinate emergency response for Wastewater Treatment Plant personnel and facilities in emergency situations. Assess and report damages. 8. Assist Pretreatment Coordinator in administering the Pretreatment Program KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES * Must possess a Class "B" Wastewater Certification issued by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. (Class "A" preferred). * Must possess a valid Texas Class "C" Driver's License. (Class "B" preferred) * Ability to maintain accurate related records, schedules, and supervise employees. * Knowledge of aspects of the administration of a Pretreatment Program. * Ability to adapt to new technology, new methods and changing conditions. * Physical ability to work as many hours needed to complete a given project. * Skills to operate various types of equipment and vehicles. * Ability to make decisions in absence of the Wastewater Superintendent. * Skills to communicate with vendors, management, industrial users, contractors and the public in a professional manner. * Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions. * Must display proficiency in both job management and personnel management. * Ability to obtain certifications / licenses to perform work assignments. * Ability to understand and enforce the City of Conroe and Departmental Policies and Procedures. * Experience with administering Industrial Pretreatment Programs. * Experience with administering Storm Water Permit. * Ability to administer EPA approved Risk Management Plan. * Ability to make critical decisions in emergency situations for the Public or employees. * Ability to respond at any hour during an emergency when requested. * Knowledge of Microsoft Office software. Experience with Pretreatment or FOG software. MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT, AND WORK AIDES Vehicles, 2-way Radio, Calculator, Copy Machine, Fax Machine, Computer, Telephone, Various Analyzers, motorized hand tools and Lab Equipment. PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIRED SCBA, Protective eyewear, Gloves, Rubber Boots, Class "A" Protection Suit, earplugs, Hazardous Material Response Equipment, Confined space equipment. EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: * Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology or related field or minimum Five (5) years' experience in management/supervisory capacity in the operation and supervision of Municipal Wastewater Treatment Plant(s) and a working knowledge of Industrial Pretreatment Programs. * Possess a valid Class "B" Wastewater License issued by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. ( Class "A" preferred) * Possess a valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License.
