Assistant Superintendent, District and School Performance

The Superintendent's Cabinet Leadership team is responsible for creating a performance culture that ensures a student-centered, equity-based and results-oriented system of schools to address the needs of the 21st Century learner, meet the expectations and vision of Henry County families, and align with the Board of Education's Plan of Action, core beliefs, and commitments to the community.

The Assistant Superintendent of District and School Performance provides leadership and direction to the district's assessment strategies, use of data, and student performance improvement for grades PreK-high school for all 52 schools.

Essential Functions

  • Serve as a key member of the Superintendent's Cabinet Leadership team, supporting the strategic leadership expectations of the Chief.

  • Positively and proactively participate in leadership meetings, representing the Superintendent and district priorities.

  • Demonstrate strong, on-going communications and collaboration with Principals, district leaders, teachers, students, and parents to ensure the communication of key performance indicators for all facets of the district.

  • Budget resources (funding, time, people, technology, etc.) appropriately to achieve district priorities, and support and monitor local, state, and federal guidelines, rules, and procedures for effective and appropriate management of funds.

  • Coordinate the ongoing development, maintenance and administration of the District's assessment system, oversee scoring operations, analyze resulting data, and produce related parent, teacher, school, and district reports and communications.

  • Lead the district's practices in research and, grants, and systems and processes.

  • Design and refine systems and processes that lead to a system of accountability to foster a culture of high performance with support.

  • Promote a performance culture that aligns structures and supports that improve classroom instruction and student learning outcomes.

  • Coordinate with School Leadership Assistant Superintendents and other staff members as needed to utilize CCRPI, formative and summative assessments, program evaluations, and other data sources to inform further continuous improvement of the district and schools.

  • Assist with the development of growth and development opportunities for district-level and school-level staff.

  • Lead and support school leaders and School Leadership Assistant Superintendents to serve as effective leaders of performance.

  • Advise on the utilization of national measurement tools to use as comparative measures for performance.

  • Keep abreast of federal and state laws and policies related to instruction and learning, and establish procedures to ensure required compliance of these laws and practices.

  • Attend meetings and trainings as required.

  • Knowledge of public education and driving improvement in student achievement.

  • Familiarity with systems thinking and the ability to analyze organizational situations from structural, human capital, political, and cultural perspectives.

  • Exhibit a consistent sense of urgency around improving student performance, closing the achievement gap, and making the instructional improvements needed to do so.

  • Collaborate and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Accountability

  • The ASDSP will be held accountable to the district-wide formative assessment system.

  • The ASDSP will be held accountable to improving student performance as indicated by the State of Georgia's Accountability System; Georgia Milestone Proficient and Distinct performance, CCRPI, and Climate Survey.

  • The ASDSP will be held accountable to increasing the culture of expectations as measured by percent of students reading on grade level and above at every grade level, the percent of middle school students who successfully complete a high school class, and the percent of graduates who complete a post-secondary experience (dual enrollment, industry certification, and or AP course).
