Position Summary

The Student Financial Services Department at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine & Science welcomes applications for a full-time Student Financial Services Assistant. The primary responsibility of this position is to provide all facets of customer service related to Student Financial Services (SFS). This individual will interact with students, the public and members of the RFU community as a representative of the department and the University. Serves in the capacity of administrative support ensuring that tasks and projects within the Office of Student Financial Services are completed successfully in a timely manner.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Greets people entering the office, answers phones, provide directions and alerting staff when someone is there to meet or visit with them

  • Provides information and assists students with student account-related functions. Will guide both prospective and current students through the entire financial aid/student account process. Interacts face-to-face with a large number of students.

  • Assists with the update of content on university portals, INSITE, and SFS website

  • Monitor and respond daily to correspondence received on the SFS department e-mail accounts or voicemail in-box

  • Provide The Office of Student Financial Services leadership with administrative support. (Associate Vice President, University Bursar, Director of Financial Aid)

  • Provide clerical assistance to Student Financial Services staff

  • Maintain a basic knowledge of federal and state financial aid and student account related policies and procedures

  • Utilize the University's database system (Colleague) for all pertinent SFS data entry and processing functions

Conditions of Employment

Required Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Three to five years of clerical work experience, or combination of education and experience commensurate with the requirements of this position

  • Experience with personal computer software

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data entry required: Excel, Word, PowerPoint

  • Proficiency in Google Office Suite, Google docs, Google Forms, Google Sheets

  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication

  • Demonstrated ability to interact with students and outside agencies to resolve problems

  • Must have ability to prioritize multiple projects and work independently with minimal supervision in a multitask environment

  • Demonstrated ability to process and maintain information that is often ambiguous and highly confidential

  • Communicates effectively, both verbally and in writing

  • Operate a variety of office equipment including a desktop calculator

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of basic accounting practices and principles

  • Experience working in a customer service setting

  • Experience working in a higher education

  • Office management experience
