Position Summary: The Assistant Team Leader assists in managing daily operations of an assigned store. In addition to supporting overall store operations, the Assistant Team Leader is responsible for modeling Earth Fares Vision, Mission, Declaration and Customer Service Creed, while training and developing a successful team.

Essential Functions

  • Champion of the Earth Fare Customer Service Creed. Focuses on customer satisfaction and ensures that Team Members provide customers with superior customer service 100% of the time.

  • Maintains positive working relationships with direct reports, peers, supervisors, suppliers, and customers. Effectively handles complex or difficult situations involving others. Inspires, develops, trains and promotes future leaders.

  • Serves as a role model promoting a positive attitude and embracing the Earth Fare Declaration, Vision and Mission. Motivates Team Members to perform with excellence in their immediate job responsibilities and towards common objectives as a team.

  • Ensures Book of Food schematics are properly set, including creating attractive displays, merchandising new items, sales items and promotional tie-ins, in order to meet the sales and profit objectives of the store and the departments.

  • Forecasts, schedules, and monitors labor to be consistent with store sales and productivity guidelines and wage budgets; creates action plan to address cost control issues.

  • Communicates sales goals, department performance, and sales opportunities with Team Members to ensure positive results. Coordinates and oversees store inventories.

  • Manages issues relating to store maintenance, cleanliness/sanitation, and safety.

  • Partners with Store Manager in all phases of store operations to include opening and closing the store.

Knowledge and Essential Critical Skills/Expertise

  • Grocery retail leadership experience required, with Earth Fare Department Management experience preferred.

  • Leadership ability with a positive track record of building, motivating and inspiring others to achieve personal and professional excellence.

  • World class customer service skills reflecting Earth Fares Customer Service Creed.

  • Must care for people and have a keen interest and ability in developing others to become future leaders of Earth Fare.

  • Commitment to Earth Fares Vision, Mission and Declaration.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Professional, friendly, and approachable demeanor.

  • Proficient computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel software. Experience using iPads and iPhones a plus.

  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule to include nights, weekends and holidays. Flexibility to support sister stores in the same region when business needs arise.

  • Desire to become a future Store Manager with the flexibility to relocate within a regional territory required. Willingness to relocation anywhere within Earth Fares growing footprint preferred.

  • Must attend work on a regular and predictable basis.

  • Must complete assigned tasks in a safe manner and in a constant state of alertness.

  • Must uphold Company policies, including the anti-harassment program.

  • Must work in a cooperative manner with managers, supervisors, coworkers, customers and the public.

  • Must uphold the highest standard of integrity, honesty and ethical behavior.

  • Must work effectively and efficiently under stressful conditions.

  • Must be able to work varying shifts, including overtime.

Qualifications

Experience

  • Retail leadership experience with an emphasis on exceptional customer service, building strong teams, and motivating and inspiring others to be the best they can be!

  • Must be a strong operator and competent in understanding the interrelatedness of net sales, gross profit, shrink, labor, and excellent ordering practices.

  • Perishable experience and OSHA ServSafe Certification preferred.

  • Leadership experience with Earth Fare preferred.

However, any equivalent combination of education and/or experience, which provide an applicant with the listed knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the job, is acceptable.

Environmental Conditions

  • Works in a fast-paced environment with a focus on customer service.

  • May work in environments of extreme cold and extreme heat for short periods of time.

  • May be asked to work in multiple store locations to support business needs.

  • May travel periodically for meetings.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. (In the event an item weighs over 50 pounds the Team Member should have another member of the team help lift the item).

  • Must be able to bend, reach, stoop, kneel and squat.

  • Must be able to push, pull, and maneuver heavy loads.

  • Must be able to stand and be on ones feet the majority of the work day.
