REPORTS TO: Store Manager

OBJECTIVE:

The Assistant Store Manager(s) will be responsible for the merchandising and operations of one (1) or more areas of the store. The Assistant Store Manager will oversee other areas of the store in the absence of the Store Manager or other Assistant Manager(s) or Sr. Assistant Manager (if applicable). The Assistant Manager will also have Sales Associate responsibilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The major job responsibilities for which the Assistant Store Manager is accountable include assisting the Store Manager and Sr. Assistant Manager (if applicable) for:

  • Overseeing one or more areas/departments of the store

  • Maximizing store sales and profits

  • Meeting all goals (i.e. sales, credit applications, magazine sales, Club 50 memberships, shrinkage, payroll, and expenses)

  • Developing a qualified, well trained staff

  • Ensuring proper execution of all store operations functions and company programs

  • Ensuring the highest level of Customer service and satisfaction.

  • Maintaining company standards throughout the store

  • Protecting all company assets

The following is a list of activities to support the accomplishment of these major responsibilities:

CUSTOMER SERVICE/ SALESMANSHIP:

  • Ensure that all Customers are greeted in a prompt and friendly manner.

  • Ensure that all Customer phone calls are handled in a courteous and helpful manner.

  • Ensure that all associates are provided with merchandise information and effective salesmanship techniques.

  • Inform Customers of advertised and promotional events to increase sales volume.

  • Use merchandise knowledge to increase units per transaction.

  • Solicit new accounts and promote Premium Rewards Program.

  • Solicit magazine sales and Club 50 memberships.

PERSONNEL:

  • Assist in the preparation and delivery of performance evaluations.

  • Assist in the utilization of company training programs.

  • Assist in addressing poor performance and administering the counseling process as necessary.

MERCHANDISING:

  • Direct and ensure compliance with current VMi floor plans

  • Direct seasonal outposts set-up.

  • Direct and ensure accuracy of sales event set-up.

  • Ensure compliance with signing guidelines.

  • Ensure compliance with Folded Merchandise Program.

  • Ensure compliance with YES merchandise.

  • Direct and ensure accuracy of clearance event set-up.

  • Ensure compliance of fixture usage.

  • Set and enforce standards for window and interior displays.

  • Ensure stock keeping maintenance is followed (including close to open policy).

  • Ensure compliance with merchandise presentation standards and departmental prototypes.

OPERATIONS:

  • Ensure compliance with all S.A.S.S. procedures.

  • Ensure P.C.A.s are completed in a timely, thorough, and accurate manner.

  • Ensure damages are completed according to procedure and shipping deadlines.

  • Ensure compliance with procedures for receiving, sorting, and processing freight.

  • Ensure that company assets (register and safe funds, bank deposits, equipment, etc.) are protected.

  • Ensure proper maintenance of store equipment and property.

  • Ensure compliance with housekeeping standards.

VIEW JOBS 11/29/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-02-27T00:00 Job Description The primary purposes of this position are to assist the Store Manager with the operation of the retail store, to maximize profit and loss (P&L) performance by executing company policies and procedures, and to provide superior customer service. The incumbent is required to perform all tasks in a safe manner consistent with corporate policies and applicable laws. The associate may be responsible for all or some of the functions below, in addition to other duties as assigned: * Assist with the general maintenance and appearance of the store by ensuring a safe and pleasing environment for both customers and associates; request store maintenance when required. * Ensure the store opens and closes at the appropriate time and the proper procedures are followed for cash transactions and bank deposits. * Interact with vendors to order ad, seasonal, and basic merchandise and ice cream (where applicable) for the store. * Merchandise the seasonal aisle and non-seasonal, basic, and seasonal end-caps; ensure all merchandise is set up according to plan-o-grams received from the corporate office. * Execute weekly sales ads and price changes; process recalled, damaged, outdated, and transferred merchandise. * Receive merchandise deliveries from vendors and Rite Aid distribution centers; verify vendor invoice information is accurate and enter vendor invoices into the accounts payable system. * Prepare the retail store for physical inventory by ensuring merchandise on the sales floor and in the stock room is in order and easy to access. * Analyze operating reports and make recommendations for improvement. * Utilize Staffworks® /Workforce Management software to complete the associate work schedule. * Remain knowledgeable of the One-Hour Photo department and film processing, if applicable. * Assist the Pharmacy department when there is a high volume of customers. * Provide leadership and development for associates by communicating career opportunities, providing regular performance feedback. * Manage the adherence to all regulatory and compliance legislation and policies. * Ensure that all outdated product and product with less than 30 days until expiration is removed from the sales floor to be processed through the established returns process. Supervisory Responsibilities: This position may involve managing tasks and supervising other store associates in accordance with Rite Aid policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include interviewing, hiring, training, directing, rewarding, and disciplining associates; appraising associate performance; and resolving complaints. * All duties described in this document are to be performed in keeping with the core values and service attributes consistent with the Rite Aid brand and strategy.
