POSITION PURPOSE:
This position is responsible for traveling to stations throughout the network providing staff support for vacancies as needed. Assisting the station management team in the overall operation of the inspection station in accordance with established policies and procedures. Perform remitter transactions and disseminating information about the Illinois Vehicle Emissions Inspection Program.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Travels to stations as directed to provide staff support for vacancies as needed
Assist the station manager in the overall operation of the testing facility, including facility maintenance, staffing and scheduling in the absence of the station manager
Enforce adherence to approved operational procedures by providing hands-on guidance, conducting lane inspector and management audits, and coordinating refresher training and recertification.
Provide assistance with the management of the station remitter and voucher programs and ensure that all funds are accounted for and properly reconciled which includes:
Receive and properly secure remitter certificate inventory
Process remitter transactions
Provides training on station remitter program -- including how to use the remitter application and payment processing terminal
Complete and submit remitter daily reports
Perform emissions testing during busy periods to help mitigate wait times
Understand the function of selected emissions control devices
Perform waiver inspections on all applicable vehicles, and grants waivers according to IEPA guidelines
Provide outstanding customer service and satisfaction
Assist in overseeing station safety and training programs
Provide constructive feedback to station manager regarding lane operations
Ensure professional employee and station appearance
Assist the station manager in providing a work environment that generates high employee morale and productivity
Perform other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Good communication skills, both written and verbal
Good time management and leadership skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
Previous vehicle inspection experience is preferred
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Computer skills in word processing and data entry
Able to enter and exit customer vehicles
Able to stoop, bend, and reach
Able to work in extreme weather conditions
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent
2+ years of experience in automotive inspection and repair, ideally in an I/M environment
Valid driver's license, reliable transportation and good driving record
