The State Auditor's Office is seeking to fill multiple positions located in Olympia, Washington. These opportunities are available on our Single Audit and Financial Audit teams. This posting will be used to source candidates for only these teams within SAO.

Team Financial Audit (FA) conducts accountability and financial statement audits of state agencies. Team FA's largest audit is the State of Washington's Annual Comprehensive Financial Report.

Three to four months out of the year we travel in King, Pierce, Thurston, Lewis and Grays Harbor counties working on site conducting financial statement audits of institutions of higher education. We also conduct accountability audits of state agencies which are primarily located in the greater Olympia area. These audits do require occasional travel to decentralized offices located throughout the state.

Team Single Audit (SA) conducts accountability and federal compliance audits of state agencies. Team SA performs the Single Audit for the state of Washington - the largest reoccurring audit performed by our Office.

The team also conducts accountability audits of state agencies that are primarily located in the greater Olympia area. Audit work requires occasional travel to de-centralized agency offices located throughout the state.

Accountability Audits:

An accountability audit evaluates whether a state agency has adhered to applicable state laws, rules and its own policies and procedures. The process includes auditing records to ensure public funds are accounted for and internal controls are in place to protect public resources from misappropriating and misuse.

Annual Comprehensive Financial Report:

We perform an independent audit of the State of Washington's ACFR in accordance with Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards.

Financial Statement Audits:

We contract with institutions of higher education and state agencies to provide financial opinions under Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards. We contract with several state agencies to audit their stand-alone financial statements or financial schedules.

Single Audits:

The Single Audit examines whether the State has implemented adequate internal controls over and materially complies with federal requirements. The audit also determines whether the State properly spent federal funds.
