DEPARTMENT: Athletic
POSITION SUMMARY:
The applicant's primary responsibility will be to assist the head spirit squad coach including but not limited to coaching, recruiting qualified student-athletes, fun-raising, camps, developing practice schedules, building community support for the program, monitoring academic progress of student-athletes, and knowledgeable of applicable rules.
SUPERVISON RECEIVED/EXERCISED:
This position reports to the head spirit squad coach.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: - may include, but not limited to the following:
Grade and Attendance Tracking
Help monitor and collect weekly study logs
Tutor team members and help them create study plans
Enforce prof. office hour attendance and communicate with prof. if needed
Work with CSO to help struggling students
Communicate any academic concerns with head coach immediately
Weight Room Tracking
Help monitor and track weekly lifts
Ensure that all members are completing two lifts a week
Help schedule make-up lists for athletes with conflicts
Communicate with the strength and conditioning coach
Communicate concerns with head coach immediately
Community Service Coordination
Assist Head Coach in planning and organizing quarterly team service activities
Help track community service hours of team and individuals
Inventory Management
Track inventory of team gear and supplies
Keep accurate records of distributed gear
Help collect and wash gear after return
Clinics and Events
Work weekend games, clinics, and fundraisers
Assist in planning and execution of events
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree required with collegiate level playing and/or coaching experience.
Recruiting ability and demonstrated commitment or experience working with diverse populations.
Must be willing to actively participate in practices and must be able to work weekends/evenings and travel.
The ability to manage multiple tasks.
Excellent written and oral skills, knowledge of the sport
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of NCAA Division III and MIAA compliance and conference rules, and an understanding of the NCAA Division III student athlete philosophy.
Experience working with underrepresented, first-generation, Pell-eligible, and diverse populations.
