Position Description

This position will assist the head coach in all program facets, including planning, coaching, recruiting, administering, and promoting the women's softball team within NCAA and institutional standards. The assistant coach will support student athletes' holistic development and help build and maintain a positive championship culture.

Coaching

  • Assist the coaching staff in planning and implementing team training sessions.

  • Ability to scout opponents through video analysis.

  • Prepare scouting reports on opponents.

  • Assist in the development of pre-game plans and provide post-game analysis.

  • Plan and implement individual training plans for players by position.

Recruiting

  • Ability to identify talented student athletes that fit the mission of the University and the program.

  • Assist the coaching staff in evaluating prospective student athletes, travel required.

  • Communicate with prospective student-athletes via phone, email, and social media.

  • Organize and participate in unofficial and official visits.

Administration

  • Compile and keep an updated schedule for training, meetings, and travel for the team and coaches.

  • Organize existing equipment and work with equipment manager to order new uniforms and gear for the season.

  • Assist in youth and ID camps during the year.

  • Assist in coordinating travel and meals for away games.

  • Secure training times, locker rooms and video for away games.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree and five years of intercollegiate coaching and recruiting experience coaching/or playing at the collegiate level, preferably at NCAA Division I or II, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

  • The ability and willingness to exercise discretion and have sound professional judgement is required.

  • Excellent office and administrative skills, task orientation, timeline adherence and the ability to work and collaborate in a group setting.

  • Required to complete Coaches Recruiting Certification, annually. Additionally, current adult CPR/First Aid/AED certification is required and must be maintained for the entire duration of employment.

  • All employees are required to adhere to all applicable institutional, conference and NCAA rules and regulations. In the event an employee becomes aware, or has reasonable cause to believe, that violations of these organizations' constitutions, bylaws, rules or regulations may have taken place, the employee shall promptly report to compliance staff. Employees shall cooperate fully and completely with any investigation of any alleged violation, whether such investigation is conducted by the University, NCAA or any other duly authorized agency or individual.

Compensation at a Glance:

Salary Range: $54,000 - $58,000

Seattle University has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, and not based on a candidate's gender or any other protected status.

Hybrid Eligible*

This position may be eligible for a hybrid schedule after successful completion of an introductory work period of 3-6 months. This may mean that a hybrid eligible role will begin on-campus initially and then will transition to hybrid format following onboarding and training. Flexible work plans are subject to periodic review and may be changed or terminated at any time for any reason at the university's discretion.
