Central State Hospital (CSH) is a 270 bed, Joint Commission accredited public psychiatric facility. The hospital serves individuals who are civilly committed and in need of treatment, and/or individuals involved in the criminal justice system who need treatment and/or pre-trial forensic evaluation.
In addition, CSH hosts the maximum security forensic program for the Commonwealth of Virginia. The facility is currently recruiting an Assistant Social Work Director to assist in leading the clinical and forensic operations of the Social Work Department. The Assistant Social Work Director is responsible for assisting in the coordination, monitoring, and implementation of clinical services.
The incumbent will assist in discharge planning. Additionally, the Assistant Social Work director will serve as a liaison to the community for patients at Central State Hospital to ensure successful discharges.
A master's degree in social work is required. The incumbent must by licensed or licensed-eligible in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Clinical Social Worker.
Must have the ability to: independently organize work, set priorities, and meet multiple deadlines; provide consultation to social work staff on qualification standards, social work practice, social work competency, social work productivity, and social work continuing education; and provide administrative and clinical supervision to include supervision for social work licensure. Must have knowledge of: legal, ethical, and professional standards applicable to social work practice; facility discharge planning and Community Service Board procedures; and skills in management to include supervision, consultation, negotiation, and monitoring. The incumbent must also have demonstrated global knowledge of social work practice in mental health care settings including resources, clinical services, and performance measures.
An extensive criminal history background investigation, employment references and drug testing will be conducted.
