The Assistant Site Merchant is responsible for managing and optimizing all marketing categories and narratives on the company's website. Your role will involve curating and overseeing the presentation of products, ensuring a cohesive and compelling customer experience that drives engagement and sales. You will be responsible for site and catalog initiatives that will help our brand meet sales and margin goals. You will propose and implement merchandising strategies online, manage product ranking, hierarchies and seasonal product launches.

You will work cross-functionally with site merchandising, buying merchandising and planning, production, product managers and marketing stakeholders to ensure products and initiatives are appropriately represented on the website. You will report into the Director of Site Merchandising and work onsite at our San Francisco headquarters.

About the Job:

  • Lead and execute the management of your categories from pre-season planning to in-season category management.

  • Manage a seasonal, monthly, and weekly site content calendar in partnership with buying and marketing to ensure there is inventory and the appropriate product for key product launches and marketing

  • Complete a competitive analysis based on competitor product, creative and site experience.

  • Leverage financial reporting to identify category insights, enabling data driven decision making and strategic planning to optimize performance and drive category growth in partnership with buying and planning teams.

  • Lead visual merchandising ensuring a cohesive and visually appealing online shopping experience that drives engagement and conversion. This involves, understanding user behavior and collaboration with cross functional teams to optimize product presentation

  • Lead the implementation of marketing stories and themes across the site.

  • Use market insights to inform category management and storytelling strategies. Adapt and innovate based on market shifts and consumer behavior changes.

  • Collaborate with the creative team to produce high-quality visuals, copy, and multimedia content.

  • Ensure that each story is relevant, timely, and resonates with the target audience

  • Regularly review site and navigation metrics, such as clicks, traffic, conversion rates, and clickthrough rates to gauge the success of category and story initiatives.

About You:

  • 3 - 5 years experience in retail e-commerce and site merchandising

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis on Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Prior experience with SAP Backoffice, Adobe Analytics, JIRA

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; detail orientated and thorough and highly organized

  • Strong understanding of internet-based consumer behavior and direct marketing principles.

  • Strong analytical skills: ability to think objectively, use data to make decisions

  • Able to build constructive and effective relationships with a broad group of business partners

  • Ability to work & communicate well with diverse co-workers across multiple business functions

  • Flexibility to perform a variety of different types & levels of work

  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with changing priorities

  • Ability to proactively seek out new learning opportunities; intellectual curiosity with the proven ability to learn new information quickly

  • Proficiency in project management and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Creative thinking and a strong sense of visual and textual storytelling

The expected starting salary range for this role is $57,800- $91,200 per year. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range based on the location of the role. The amount a particular employee will earn within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, performance and business needs.
