Position Title: Assistant Safety Superintendent (NEW)
Reports To: Safety Superintendent
Position Summary: The Assistant Safety Superintendent will be well-versed in regulatory safety standards and will display leadership and confidence when assessing data analysis and risk assessment on projects. Will require interfacing with customers and government officials in high-level meetings and be able to engage with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Reports to the Safety Superintendent
Advisor and Subject Matter Expert of the following:
OSHA 300 logs
Safety Rates (DART, TRIR, LTIR)
Provide trend analysis with leading and lagging indicators
Conduct investigations regarding injuries and accidents
Establish Safety and Fire Protection Plan for Projects
Creates and maintains Job Hazard Analysis (JHA)
Manage a staff of EHS Technicians and conducts guidance and counseling as needed
Communicates with the Environmental Superintendent for department requirements, and assists with environmental as needed; Continues professional growth and cross-training to understand the full scope of the EHS Department
Monitors, evaluates, and maintains the PSI Environmental, Health and Safety programs
Provides training outlines for safety classes
Performs Shipyard Competent Person duties
Provides training as necessary to meet the requirements of regulatory agencies, the EHS Manual and to ensure the ongoing education and safety of employees
Maintains safety training records
Maintains HAZ/Non-HAZ waste site(s) and materials
Inspects work areas to ensure a hazard-free environment
Performs duties as outlined by the NAVSEA Standard Items, EM 385-1-1, and federal regulations
Perform other duties as assigned

Education/Training:
Minimum of 5 years of safety experience in the marine repair/construction industry preferable
OSHA 10-hour maritime, construction or general industry certification
HAZWOPER 40-hour certification preferred
EM-385-1-1 certification preferred
First Aid / CPR certification required
Confined Space Competent Person certification preferred
Ability to effectively operate office equipment, to include desktop computers, calculators, printers, copy machines and telephones
Qualification/Requirement:
Must show proof of your legal right to work in the United States
This position requires US Citizenship due to security clearance required for base access
Must be able to successfully obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
Must be able to successfully obtain a Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) Credential to gain access to federally controlled work sites
All candidates must submit to and pass a post-offer drug screening and background check before employment begins. Failure to complete any of these steps will result in disqualification
Valid State of Hawaii drivers' license in good standing
Candidates must have access to reliable transportation to get to work and other job sites on time for the start of a shift
