Key Responsibilities

At this time, we are seeking an Assistant Resident Services Director to join our team!

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, coordinating and managing the Resident Services Department.

  • Assisting in overall direction, coordination and evaluation of Resident Services Director as well as services provided to the residents.

  • Works closely with and under supervision of the Resident Services Director in overall operation of Resident Services Department.

  • Supports and practices the philosophy, objectives and standards of the Resident Services Department and participates in the revision of these as necessary to ensure quality care to all residents.

  • Participates in the development of policies and procedures that support Resident Services Department objectives.

  • Ensures that the philosophy, objectives and standards of the Resident Services Department are an integral part of the orientation and education of the Resident Services personnel.

  • Incorporates Wellness philosophy, standards and objectives into the evaluation process for staff in Resident Services.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.

  • 2 Years' experience in an assisted living environment desired.

  • Three years' experience in a position with management and leadership responsibilities.

  • Familiarity with NJ State Regulations >Current, unencumbered NJ State RN.

  • Current CPR Certificate .

  • Additional certification in nursing specialty of Geriatrics is desirable.

  • Must be able to communicate effectively (written and oral form) in a care setting with residents, families, staff, representatives of community and state agencies.

The successful candidate will combine a background in effectively counseling college-bound students and their parents in an independent school with an in-depth understanding of highly selective college admission. Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills are required along with genuine interest in and enthusiasm for supporting students and families through the college search process. We seek an empathetic and patient listener and a student advocate, whose workstyle is collaborative and collegial. RESPONSIBILITIES * Build strong working relationships with students and parents for approximately 35 families per grade level beginning sophomore year. Educate and counsel families about the college search and application process. * Guide students on academic and personal planning as well as skills essential to the college search, including interviewing and essay writing. * Maintain a professional level of sensitivity to different family cultures and dynamics. * Communicate clearly, effectively and responsively with all constituencies (students, parents, colleagues, college admission officers). * Write well-crafted, personalized recommendation letters. * Work well independently and collaboratively to develop and implement college counseling programs and services, including the development and facilitation of programming that occurs outside of the school day, such as evening programs, college fair and Saturday testing. * Represent SPA at regional and national conferences and workshops; stay up-to-date on trends and issues in the field of college admissions. * Maintain a knowledge base regarding a diverse range of colleges, including travel to visit college campuses; create and maintain strong professional relationships with college admission officers. * Use technology such as Naviance software, school database, Google apps. * Actively support the schools mission and values, and engage in the life of the school as an advisor, chaperone, and faculty colleague. QUALIFICATIONS * Qualified candidates should have a bachelor's degree and a minimum of five years of college counseling experience, ideally in an independent school, and/or selective college admission that includes evaluation of independent school applicants. * Demonstrated counseling expertise and proven ability to create responsive, caring and appropriate relationships with families. Service-oriented, with the ability to work effectively and proactively with involved parents with high expectations. * Discretion, respect for confidentiality, and highest ethical standards. * Enthusiasm for working with teenagers and their parents and understanding of their concerns in the college admission process. * Ability and eagerness to work with people of diverse backgrounds and experiences, and a commitment to supporting a diverse and inclusive office and school community. * Outstanding writing ability, including experience crafting effective recommendation letters. * Communication skills: ability to work with families in a transparent, candid, effective yet thoughtful manner through written and oral communication; effective public speaker. * Outstanding organizational and time management skills, plus the ability to work independently, in groups and to multi-task. * A collaborative, collegial and flexible workstyle, patience, good humor, openness to new ideas, and a growth-mindset. * An ongoing commitment to professional development, staying abreast of issues in college counseling and admissions and showing a broad interest in higher education.
