JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The School of Public Policy at The Pennsylvania State University invites applications for an Assistant Research Professor. The position is a full-time, non-tenure-track member of the faculty participating in school governance and serving in the Master of Public Policy (MPP) program.
The start date for the position is August 2023. Candidates must have earned a Ph.D. in public policy, economics, or political science by August 2023. This is a term appointment for one year from date of hire with an excellent possibility of renewal.
Successful candidates will have a demonstrated ability for conducting high-quality research and teaching experience in public policy, political science, or economics. Responsibilities include research, service to the school, and teaching public policy courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
The candidate may teach MPP core courses, policy specialization classes, or undergraduate courses in their areas of interest and expertise. Most teaching is expected to be in residence, but online courses are possible when they meet the needs of the program and students. Teaching experience on topics related to race and public policy is desirable.
The successful candidates must either have demonstrated a commitment to building an inclusive, equitable, and diverse campus community, or describe one or more ways they would envision doing so, given the opportunity. Penn State is committed to and accountable for advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in all its forms.
We embrace individual uniqueness, foster a culture of inclusion that supports both broad and specific diversity initiatives, leverage the educational and institutional benefits of diversity, and engage all individuals to help them thrive. We value inclusion as a core strength and an essential element of our public service mission.
Applicants can learn more about the school, the curriculum, and position by reviewing the school's web page at https://publicpolicy.psu.edu/.
