Title Assistant Research Professor of Pharmacology and Toxicology Specific Title Appointment Type Scientist Track Faculty Department IUSM - Pharmacology & Toxicology Campus IU School of Medicine Indianapolis Position Summary
Laboratory in Pharmacology and Toxciolgoy seeks a non-tenure track position of Assistant Research Scientist. The candidate will be expected to develop and validate experimental procedures that will be used to test pharmacological agents using in vivo model systems of disease. Research will center mainly on cancer and Alzheimer's disease. The scientist will be expected to conduct cell, molecular, and biochemical based experimental approaches of the highest standards. The successful candidate will work under the direction of the lab head and with other lab members to perform experimental design, execution of assays, and data interpretation. The goal for this candidate is to establish strong scientific credentials and reputation as an independent researcher. The successful candidate will also be expected to give oral presentations to scientific audiences, write manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed journals, and assist with preparing grant applications for NIH funding.

Basic Qualifications
Doctorate or terminal degree required. Qualified candidates will possess an MD, PhD, or MD/PhD in a biomedical sciences field and have 3 or more years of post-doctoral experience.

Additional Qualifications
Experience training students on lab procedures, equipment and safety.
Strong organizational skills and experience managing multiple research projects in a highly productive lab environment.
Must have a strong publication record including first author publications.
Demonstrated knowledge of the utilization of animal research models and handling.
Advanced computer skills and software application.
Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with technical and non-technical users.
Excellent written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to complete detailed analytics and reports.
Sound knowledge of associated risks in a research environment and laboratory safety regulations
Ability to perform both standard and complex laboratory procedures with accuracy, precision and reliability.
Strong record of teamwork with the motivation and ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
