The Indiana University School of Nursing (IUSON) is seeking an Assistant Research Professor to join the research and grant writing team in our Research Empowerment and Collaboration Hub (REACH) program. The REACH program provides mentorship for early career faculty to help generate cutting-edge research, disseminate research findings, and secure research funding.

The successful candidate will be required to provide grant writing support for faculty to assist them in acquiring research funding. In addition, the candidate must have a strong understanding of scientific research methods and be able to effectively communicate complex scientific findings in a clear and concise manner. As part of the primary responsibilities, you will be responsible for coordinating project information flow, organizing, and integrating proposal components, and reviewing proposals to ensure responsiveness to guidelines. The successful candidate will (i) develop high-quality scientific content by necessary research, scientific writing, editing, and fact-checking, to meet deadlines and work within project scope and objectives, (ii) take ownership of assigned projects or programs and resolve complex technical issues to ensure excellent project delivery, (iii) liaise effectively with investigators and thought leaders during the lifecycle of assigned projects, (iv) maintain an individual program of research that intersects with the IUSON areas of research excellence (Nurse Education Science, Health & Community Systems, Quality of Life & Chronic Condition Management, Prevention & Health Promotion, and Serious Illness Support). The ideal candidate should possess exceptional scientific writing skills, a proven history of publishing in peer-reviewed journals, presenting at regional, national, and international conferences, and a genuine enthusiasm for supporting the academic success of others.

Proposal Execution and Success:

Undertake writing and editing to develop high-quality scientific content. Balance personal and collaborative programs of research and manage project schedules to meet delivery deadlines.

Be familiar with and work within the project scope and objectives. Monitor project progress, scope changes, and proceed accordingly. Interpret scientific data accurately and appropriately.

Undertake necessary research on topics relevant to assigned projects and maintain familiarity with available information sources. Liaise with all opinion leaders/authors or other external parties to foster strong and positive relationships and to ensure project success. Identify issues that may affect project delivery and take independent action or liaise effectively with the Manager and other team members, as appropriate, to resolve project issues.

Seek opportunities to maximize project efficiency and make recommendations or take actions as appropriate. Provide guidance to other team members on technical or process issues as necessary. Provide mentorship and coaching.

Participate in team discussions and meetings. Participate effectively in constructive peer review of others' work. Proactively assess project needs and work to identify how these can be best met.

Identify complex technical and process issues, and actively communicate and manage changes in project scope. Maintain a high level of satisfaction with all interactions and deliverables. Actively manage timelines and expectations. This position will be 100% in Office of Research Services.

Basic Qualifications

Education and Experience:

● Terminal Degree in Life Sciences, Nursing, or Medicine (PhD or MD)

● 1-3 years prior experience preferred in a similar role, preferably within a scientific or health-related field.

Technical Skills:

● Computer and Internet skills: knowledge of MS applications such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint

● Strong oral and written communication skills

● Strong problem-solving skills

● Ability to acquire and apply specialized scientific area knowledge

● Exceptional scientific writing competency

● Proofreading and copyediting skills

● Effective project management skills

● Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment

● Ability to prioritize work and define steps needed to achieve specified project outcomes

● Ability to successfully manage assignments on time with high-quality

● Effective presentation skills and willingness to participate in training and mentoring

● Willingness to undertake continuous professional learning and development
