Role Summary

The Assistant Quality Manager provides guidance, instruction, leadership and motivation to Quality staff on daily activities, tasks, assignments and problems which arise and is a Quality advisor to other departments. Responsible for the review of Quality policies and procedures, implementation of changes and continuous improvements. Ensures internal quality systems are effectively maintained via auditing, procedure writing and corrective actions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide daily plant floor quality support and guidance

  • Oversee and implement customer corrective actions effectively

  • Implement quality best practices for shop floor

  • Standardize quality procedures

  • Optimize the cut & etch process and procedures

  • Responsible to Coordinate Testing Lab and CMM activities

  • Respond to Supplier non-conformances

  • Manage Test Labs (Performance Testing, Calibration and CMM)

  • Maintain records to justify overtime costs

  • Ensure all QA logs are maintained by subordinates

  • Perform tasks and reporting as outlined in the Business Operating Process

Key Qualifications/Requirements

  • 5 Years Supervisory Experience preferably in the automotive industry

  • Certified Quality Engineer and/or post-secondary technical degree

  • Sound knowledge of IATF 16949 Quality Standard

  • Effective oral and written communication skills as well as the ability to timely respond to customers

  • Formal training skills

  • Strong problem solving skills

  • Proven organizational skills in a fast paced and demanding environment

  • New Program launch / Advanced Product Quality Planning

  • Knowledge of PPAP

  • Knowledge of PSO, Run at Rate

  • Experience with Supplier Management

On a daily basis, the goal is to hire quality employees and maintain them through their probationary period until they are eligible for permanent hire.
