Radford University has the exciting opportunity to build a senior leadership team that will help us fulfill our mission of teaching students who become the leaders of thriving communities! Located in the beautiful mountains and valleys of Southwest Virginia, Radford seeks an experienced Assistant Provost for Student Success to join the Provost's team. We seek candidates who are dedicated to providing academic support to students from their initial interest in attending Radford University until their graduation, who are passionate about Radford University's mission, who are excited about living and learning in our region, and who have demonstrated success in developing initiatives that increase student persistence and graduation.

The Assistant Provost for Student Success (AP-SS) is a collaborative leader who will fulfill Radford University's mission of providing a high-quality, inclusive, experiential education to our students by overseeing our academic success initiatives. The AP-SS leads the Highlander Success Center and the University Libraries; coordinates academic advising practices across campus; and is responsible for improving key student academic success metrics. Working in collaboration with Student Affairs, Enrollment Management, Financial Aid, the Registrar, Student Accounts, and Career and Talent Development; the AP-SS will lead the Highlander Success Center in becoming the center of a hub and spoke model of academic advising, coordinating advising and training advisors across the colleges and locations, and working with our community college partners to seamlessly support transfer students. The AP-SS will be a creative and collaborative leader who makes data-informed decision to support student success.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated commitment providing a high-quality education to diverse students, including enhancing student recruitment, engagement, persistence, and graduation;

  • Comprehensive knowledge of best practices in student academic success, including advising, retention, and transition programs;

  • Demonstrated leadership, management, and supervisory experience in an academic environment;

  • Experience with unit or campus-wide implementation of student success and advising software applications;

  • Experience using Starfish or other student success software tool campus-wide;

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; and

  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, working independently and in teams to meet the objectives of academic initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of teaching experience at the university level;

  • A record of research and publication related to student success; and/or

  • Experience overseeing academic programs and/or university libraries.
