Slayden Constructors Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of MWH Constructors, is currently seeking a Water/Wastewater Assistant Project Manager in Spokane, Washington. This position will manage and support the Project Manager in being responsible for the development of a construction project and to oversee its organization, scheduling, budgeting, and implementation.
The following duties are typical for this classification. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. These duties are general in nature and may be changed to fulfill the defined role of the Construction Project Manager.
The Assistant Project Manager supports the Project Manager and shall review, establish, monitor and implement project procedures and processes consistent with regulations, codes, standards, contracts, specifications and company policy.
The Assistant Project Manager will support the Project Manager on the following:
Responsible for overall project success and managing the project team.
Establish and maintain an onsite line of authority during the course of project.
Review project documentation for accuracy and correct or approve as needed. Project documentation may include: meeting minutes, project files, budget reports, status of project contingencies and/or balances, change orders, purchase orders, contracts, project logs, time cards, short/long term project schedules, drawings, specifications, addendums, shop drawings, progress payments, submittals, RFI's, safety and equipment forms.
Coordinate with PM and project team to develop comprehensive plan for project start up and successful kick-off.
Perform accurate project revenue and forecasting to ensure corporate profitability goals are met.
Ensure proper job controls, i.e. quantities, costs, revenue and schedule.
Coordinate efforts with PM to manage resources to meet project schedule.
Establish and maintain working relationships with owners, agencies, subcontractors, corporate management, inspectors, etc., providing customer service to develop long-term partnerships with client base.
Implement project changes and/or direction throughout the project to best achieve desired company results.
Monitor and resolve issues by utilizing verbal or written communication during the construction of project between owner, owner's representative, architect, engineer, subcontractors, vendor & contractor; and
Coordinate the final completion of project by utilizing performance tools, such as, punch lists and inspections to receive an owner's letter that certifies substantial completion.
Comply, understand, and support corporate safety initiatives to ensure a safe work environment.
Run projects at profitability levels to meet or exceed expected margins.
Understanding of Quality Assurance (QA)/Quality Control (QC)
Drafts and negotiates subcontracts and POs
Assistant Project Manager
Graduate of a CEM, Engineering program, or similar discipline and construction trade and/or construction management experience. At least 5 years related experience in the construction industry, preferably in water infrastructure and/or heavy civil.
A portion of this experience must be as supervisor, superintendent, foreman or engineer in the construction industry for contractors, or equivalent construction experience.
