DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Assists in the coordination, planning, and administration of various design and/or construction contracts, permits and projects to ensure delivery within prescribed scope of work and budgetary and time constraints.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
WORKING CONDITIONS
The position is physically comfortable; the individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc. There are no major sources of discomfort, i.e., essentially normal office environment with acceptable lighting, temperature and air conditions.
This is a Houston Public Works Emergency Management position at the Tier III level.
MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Business Administration, Physical Sciences or a closely related field. Considerable knowledge of the construction industry is required.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Two years of experience in construction, construction inspection, design, geotechnical, environmental or in a closely related field are required.
Directly related professional experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
MINIMUM LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
Valid Texas Driver's License and compliance with the City of Houston policy on driving (AP 2-2).Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.SELECTION/SKILLS TESTS REQUIRED None
However, the department may administer a skill assessment evaluation.
