Samaritan's Purse mobilizes and equips thousands of volunteers to provide emergency aid to U.S. victims of wildfires, floods, tornadoes, hurricanes, and other natural disasters thru the North American Ministries (NAM) Department. The Assistant Program Manager, based in Coppell, TX, serves to support and help implement plans designed to further the ministry of the Samaritan's Purse Disaster Relief Program. This individual will assist in the recruitment and development of volunteer teams; shepherding and providing training for volunteers; recruiting churches to participate in the project while responding to disasters within the United States. A day in the life of an Assistant Program Manager, U.S. Disaster Relief

In the role of Assistant Program Manager, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him.

  • Assist the Program Manager of U.S. Disaster Relief in developing church relationships and implementing a volunteer training plan and training volunteers.

  • Support the Program Manager during deployments and serve as the Incident Commander in the Incident Command System model of emergency response.

  • Work to establish communication with government agencies and other relief organizations.

  • Oversee designated aspects of the deployment in direction of key volunteers, staff and other chaplains with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association Rapid Response Team. This requires hands-on leadership with teams in the field while on deployment.

  • Ensure safety/training procedures are carefully implemented at all times.

  • Provide procurement and logistical support for deployments.

  • Assist with financial transactions, prepare daily/monthly report of activities; hold/attend regular weekly staff meetings.

  • Assist the Program Manager to set up programs, work with identified church partners, interact with the local emergency management officials, organize, train and direct volunteers.

  • Follow policies and procedures of Samaritan's Purse as set forth in the Policy Manual.

  • Attend daily morning devotions and participate in prayer support for the ministry, its donors, and volunteers.

  • Maintain a strong Christian witness to colleagues, vendors, charitable beneficiaries, and the general public.
