Assistant Program Director/Music Director

CUMULUS MEDIA | CHARLESTON is searching for an experienced Assistant Program Director/ Music Director. The Assistant Program Director/ Music Director will work with the Program Director and other managers and be responsible for growing and operating our strong brand. Energy, enthusiasm and experience within the genre is a must. You will be responsible for all aspects of programming including; managing & scheduling on-air staff, imaging, station strategy, sports play by play, developing and executing revenue generating sales & programming promotions, website & social media, digital content and have a strong understanding of the core audience of the Sports format. The position also requires a daily Producer or on-air-shift, along with live appearances and live remotes!

Cumulus | Charleston, SC currently features 5 stations in Charleston and surrounding counties. Our stations include: 93.1 WWWZ Urban , 95.1 WSSX - CHR, 107.3 WMGL - Urban AC, 96.9 WIWF - Classic Hits and 1250 AM WTMA - Talk. Plus, a vast array of SEM, SEO and Social Media digital assets. The cluster of 5 stations reaches thousands of listeners on a daily basis.

We're looking for a track record of success. Top candidates will be versatile and possess exceptional PD, On-Air and web/social media skills. Digital and social strategies must be as engaging as on-air tactics and execution. The best candidates will be detail oriented with the ability to multi-task and react in a calm and decisive way when dealing with challenging situations. Excellent writing and production skills to image and brand your stations are essential. People skills and the ability to work closely with talent, department heads and a talented sales team are critical.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work alongside program director to flawlessly execute strategic programming and promotions plan

• Assist program director with sales team to develop and enhance client relationships and revenue opportunities

• Work closely with program director to assist promotions/marketing team to develop contests, promotions and big events to raise brand profile

• Ensure operation of station in accordance with FCC regulations and policies

• Operate (as needed) control board, remote broadcasting and other related production equipment as well as music scheduling software

• Produce a compelling daily radio show

• Great with phones/interacting with callers and hosting live events

• Connect with listeners via phones, social, video, web and on-site

• Daily social media engagement; website and digital content generation

• Participate in station Programming, Promotions, and Sales meetings and events

• Live broadcasts and station appearances

• Commercial production, including creating killer endorsement ads - both on-air and online - for mutually agreed upon products

• Voice other commercials as assigned

• Handle emergency news/weather in show; on-call for weather disasters/breaking news

• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Minimum 3 years' of successful programming experience and winning track record backed by Nielsen Audio results preferred

• Strong social and digital experience

• Savvy computer skills and proficiency with ratings, research and (Stratus) programs

• Ability to multi-task and the discipline to focus on what is the highest and best use of your time

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with air staff, departments and clients

• Creative and strategic problem solver

• A strong understanding of PPM / Nielsen Ratings and ability to interpret various kinds of research
