The Program Director is a member of the full-time Faculty who also holds an administrative appointment related to managing a specific academic program or set of academic programs. Responsibilities include: classroom instruction, day-to-day program operations, assisting students toward successful program completion, managing Faculty, promoting the academic well-being of the program, helping to maintain/grow student enrollment, and staffing the classroom with Faculty who support the mission of South University. The Program Director also participates in activities that promote the stature of the Academic Programs, Departments, and Colleges and abides by the mandates set by the South University Board of Trustees and Administration. Incumbent must assure that the South University philosophy is considered in carrying out the duties and responsibilities of this position: quality services to clients; development, growth, involvement, and recognition of employees; sound economic principles; and maintenance of an environment which is conducive to innovation, positive thinking and expansion.

Teaching: (up to 65%)*
Performs Faculty responsibilities as outlined in the Faculty job description and the Faculty Supplement to the South University Employee Handbook.
Teaches 12 classes per academic year.
Designs and delivers instruction in alignment with the South University model.
Relates professional/life/industry experience to learning by continuing professional/ technical skills development, and introducing professional/industry perspective into courses.
Promotes student success by showing flexibility and exhibiting a passion for teaching and students.
Manages the educational process to ensure a positive educational experience.
Practices effective outreach to at-risk and/or absent students.
Communicates consistently and effectively with Supervisors, University Administrators, Faculty, and other South University Departments.
Manages the learning environment through keeping accurate records and enforcing academic policies consistent with the University, College/School, Campus, or Online Division.
Faculty Service/Administration: (up to 40%)*
Adheres to university policies as described in the Employee Handbook, the Faculty Supplement to the Employee Handbook, job description, or other separate guidelines.
Interviews and recommends candidates for Faculty positions within the Program on the campus.
Ensures that credentials of Faculty meet university and accreditation requirements and are properly documented.
Ensures that full-time and adjunct Faculty evaluations (e.g., course observations and annual Faculty evaluations) are completed in a timely manner.
Serves as liaison between Faculty and University Administration.
Creates and manages program budget process by communicating with campus leadership (on ground only).
Remains in compliance with South University's academic policies and procedures, educational policies, both SACSCOC and programmatic accreditation standards, and state agency regulations.
Serves as an academic advisor.
Responsible for providing appropriate support for the accurate completion and timely submission of internal/external reports (e.g., OSAIRS, Accreditation) and assessment processes as necessary.
Ensures full implementation of Administrative Course Outlines (ACOs).
Plays an integral role in the student recruitment process and growth of assigned programs.
Supports College/School and University initiatives as requested by the College/School or University Administration.
Administers the program, program/department initiatives designed to achieve student outcomes, and Campus/community relations.
Trains, manages, and leads a designated group of Faculty according to the policies and procedures of the University, supervising the daily operations, including the recruiting and scheduling of Faculty.
Ensures that student and Faculty problems requiring academic actions are resolved according to South University policies and procedures.
Supports the curriculum development and revision/process regarding the program.
Oversees the Program Advisory Council (PAC) process including selecting members and facilitating meetings at least twice per year.
Advocates for the Professional Development of Faculty.
Manages the operations of student professional organizations, as appropriate by program.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):
A PhD or DNP in Nursing is required.
National Certification as Adult Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (AGNP) is required.
5 years of clinical experience in teaching discipline.
At least 1-2 years teaching experience at another post-secondary education institution (preferred).
Active, valid, and unencumbered state licensure or certification as applicable to the discipline.
Successful record of increasing responsibility or project/initiative leadership within a university or industry setting.
Practical experience in the discipline of the program and knowledge of current best practices (in field).
Evidence of management potential (preferred).
Strong leadership skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to build successful relationships with students and Faculty.
Excellent time management and attention to detail.
Excellent critical thinking, conflict resolution, and decision-making skills.
Excellent teaching skills as evidenced in prior teaching evaluations.
Computer based skills (i.e., software, analytical, and report writing skills) and experience with computerized learning management systems.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and successfully meet deadlines.
Ability to develop professional rapport and work effectively, cooperatively, and flexibly in a diverse team environment.
Ability to read, understand, interpret, and implement academic policies and procedures.
Ability to resolve inquiries and complaints from students and Faculty.
Ability to effectively present information to employees, students, Faculty, Academic and Campus Leaders, and Corporate Leaders.

Willingness to work in an accelerated learning format, working online with students five of seven days per online week.
Ability to access a personal computer, Internet connection, and telephone connection (hardware, software, and Internet access specifications to be provided) to fulfill teaching and related administrative responsibilities.
Previous online teaching experience (preferred).
