Summary of Job Duties:

The Department of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness at the University of Arkansas is seeking candidates for a 12-month, tenure-track faculty position. The successful candidate will develop an internationally-recognized research program related to food and agribusiness marketing.

Relevant expertise for consideration for this position may include value-added agriculture, local food systems, commodity marketing/risk management, agribusiness management, agricultural and food product supply chain management, household behavior, family economics, food policy, and regulation. Demonstrated expertise in data collection, statistical data handling, and applying experimental economics techniques to marketing and management problems is highly desired. Candidates are expected to be proficient in applied econometrics.

Other relevant quantitative research expertise is desirable as well. Candidates are expected to support their program through competitive extramural funding.

Teaching Responsibilities: The individual will teach two courses each year.

Possible teaching assignments for this position include Food and Agricultural Marketing and Agribusiness Entrepreneurship. Courses may be developed or assigned based on candidate expertise and departmental curriculum needs. The successful candidate should have a strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate student education and training, as well as participating in departmental activities. Involvement in graduate student education as a committee member and as a major advisor is expected.

Qualifications:

  1. An earned Doctorate in agricultural/applied economics, economics, or related fields from an accredited institution;

  2. Commitment to the active pursuit of a scholarship agenda consistent with the Land-Grant mission leading to refereed publications, professional presentations, extramural funding, and timely and relevant outreach materials;

  3. Evidence of excellent quantitative skills, experience in collaborative scholarship, and excellent written and verbal communication ability;

  4. Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills and collegiality.

Record of extramural funding support; publication experience; teaching experience; experience with industry/stakeholder engagement.
