Summary of Job Duties:

The Department of Strategy, Entrepreneurship, and Venture Innovation in the Sam M.

Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas is currently hiring for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position with a specialization in strategic management, entrepreneurship, innovation, and/or organizational research methods.

The expected start date for the position is August 11, 2025. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. The job duties for the position include research, teaching, and service.

Conducting and publishing research in the top academic journals in the field is the primary job duty. Teaching expectations include teaching in person classes at the undergraduate, masters, or doctoral level and holding in person office hours. Finally, the position requires service to the profession, university, college, and department commensurate with rank.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

The Department of Strategy, Entrepreneurship, and Venture Innovation (SEVI) is comprised of faculty focusing their research in the broad areas of strategic management, entrepreneurship, and innovation. The tenured and tenure-track faculty include Nur Ahmed, Alan Ellstrand, Jake Grandy, Jon Johnson, Scott Kuban, Jason Ridge, Dan Worrell, and Shannon Younger.

Our faculty have consistently published in top journals including Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Administrative Science Quarterly, Strategic Management Journal, Organization Science, Journal of Business Venturing, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, and Journal of Management, in addition to several other top outlets. Furthermore, the department, with the Management Department, placed 10th in department productivity per faculty in the 2023 TAMUGA rankings. We also have a historically strong doctoral program with a record of placing our students in Research I universities.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in management or a related discipline from an AACSB (or equivalent) accredited university, conferred by the start of employment

  • Demonstrated experience teaching strategy, entrepreneurship, or innovation

  • Demonstrated potential to publish in top-tier strategy or entrepreneurship focused journals.

  • Must meet standards to be classified as a Scholarly Academic for AACSB purposes

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong research record, or strong indicators of potential, and demonstrated leadership in research projects that resulted in top-tier journal publications

  • Currently possess strong pipeline of research

  • Strong strategic management scholarly and pedagogical background

  • Demonstrated ability to provide an excellent learning environment in the classroom and value collegiality

  • Demonstrated active engagement with on-campus environment and participation with on-campus activities
